Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 25, 2015 4:05 pm Posted this in main forum but thought it more sensible to put in the kitchen forum we are about to build with ventura and have decided on our selections. At the prestart meeting on monday we were really disheartened to find out during prestart that we cannot get any patterns on the kitchen cabinets (we wanted settler) unless we go for vinyl wrap which i have read bad reviews about. it will also cost over $3,000. We don't like the modern/glossy look it looks like we're either stuck with standard formica mist gray laminates which i fear will look really bland. any thoughts/ideas to get round this issue would be gratefully received thanks Re: Kitchen cabinets 2Mar 25, 2015 5:23 pm The names they use like "settler" usually mean nothing to us as they are just a name Ventura gives the doors. You would be better giving us a description so we know what you are talking about. By "patterns" I am guessing you are talking about a profile or panelled door?? Like this company below? http://www.tesroldoors.com.au/vacuum-specs.php?pg=4 Defiantly stay away from vinyl wrap, its garbage!! What about polyurethane?? You can have any profile and any gloss level (matt, satin, semi gloss or gloss) Cutting Edge Kitchens and Cabinet Making http://cuttingedgekitchens.net.au http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cutting-Edge-Kitchens/290484196676 Mobile : 0419 430 575 PH: 9452 4772 Fax :9452 4772 cuttingedgekitchens@outlook.com Re: Kitchen cabinets 3Mar 25, 2015 5:46 pm Yes, that's exactly what i mean. Without it i think the cupboards will look terrible, especially as we prefer matt finish Ventura only provides formica laminate finish to the cupbaords so i think we would have to do it ourselves it polyurethane very expensive? We have about 18 cupboard doors Re: Kitchen cabinets 4Mar 25, 2015 8:23 pm When you talk about vinyl wrap, what is that? Is that like laminex and polytec? Unfortunately the two easiest ways to achieve that looks is with vinyl or paint. Melamine doors are very affordable because the material is produced in large sheets and doors are cut out of those, the material is inexpensive and durable. The down side is that the only option is a flat panel. I wouldn't say that the flat panel style looks 'terrible' though but if you prefer a Hampton's look it might not be ideal. Re: Kitchen cabinets 6Mar 26, 2015 1:34 pm MrsJM When you talk about vinyl wrap, what is that? Is that like laminex and polytec? Do a search on this forum, there is plenty of threads about it. No, its nothing like laminex and polytec Cutting Edge Kitchens and Cabinet Making http://cuttingedgekitchens.net.au http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cutting-Edge-Kitchens/290484196676 Mobile : 0419 430 575 PH: 9452 4772 Fax :9452 4772 cuttingedgekitchens@outlook.com You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want.
