I changed benchtops when I renovated our last kitchen. It involves taking out the sinks as well. Paula Re: changing laminex to CaesarStone after hand over 3Jun 23, 2008 9:36 am it depends if the splash back is already in it might be a pain depending if your bench has a corne. You will need to take out sink and stove tops (and anything else running through bench) also remove the silicon between splash back and top. Re: changing laminex to CaesarStone after hand over 4Jun 23, 2008 10:12 am It would probally be easier to ask the builder NOT to install the wall tiles, or whatever is going on the wall over the benchtop.

Re: changing laminex to CaesarStone after hand over 6Jun 23, 2008 12:24 pm donuts laminate benchtops might be a different thickness to the stone Almost certainly will - standard thicknesses for Caesarstone are 20mm, 30mm 40mm (with thicker edge) and up, wheras laminated tops tend to be 34mm and 38mm. I would be doing a Kevin suggested and try to get the tiles left off, it will be much less pain in the long run. Cheers. The builder might allow this, but whoever installs the benchtop, would probally have to cut in the sink and hotplates as well Best Price Wardrobes Sliding door robes | Walk in robes Deco panel | Mirror | Melamine 26 to 28 Cottage lane Hackham M: 0402 927 376 http://www.bestpricewardrobes.com.au Trade welcome Re: changing laminex to CaesarStone after hand over 9Jul 01, 2008 11:48 am Kevin Brown Scribe Would the builder let someone else install the benchtop before they installed the sinks, tiles, etc? The builder might allow this, but whoever installs the benchtop, would probally have to cut in the sink and hotplates as well My lovely builder is letting me do this. His cabinet maker is doing the templates (like cardboard cutouts of the benchtops with the right size holes for sink and hotplate), then I take the templates to my stone mason who makes the benches, then comes on site to install it. Sounds all good in theory, hopefully it'll go smoothly in practice!
