Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 18, 2015 2:02 pm Hi all. Have been an avid follower of this forum since undertaking a complete home reno in 2012, and have always found it to be full of great tips and advice, not to mention decorating suggestions! Have never posted before, but thought I might have a go at posting a couple of photos of my kitchen, including a 'before and after' showing the wall we knocked down between the old kitchen and dining room. Anyway, here goes nothing! This must have made a huge difference to how you live in your home. I especially like the full height wall cupboards. That sort of space is invaluable. Just one question, how deep are those cupboards? I find for that sort of cupboard space, sometimes shallower actually works better as things don't get lost down the back. Congrats on this, it really does look great. Cheers, Jenny. Need hints, tips and inspiration? Join me on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ournewhomecoach Who am I? The house used to belong to my parents and we pretty much completely gutted it and re-did everything from the roof down. The cupboards are about 60cm deep which I find works well. The central cupboards contain my pantry with pull out soft close drawers inside. Of course, I have to use a ladder and/or my tall son to reach the top shelves but I store rarely used things up there such as Christmas stuff, so it's not really a problem. Have attached a couple of photos FYI. I have a very similar kitchen to renovate - wall to be knocked down, and laundry leading onto kitchen. would love to know how much to budget. Re: Kitchen reno 6Apr 17, 2015 1:07 pm Thank you! jackando7, sorry for the delay in responding but I haven't checked in for a while. I know this is going to sound odd, and be of no assistance to you whatsoever, but I have absolutely no idea how much the kitchen cost! As we renovated the entire house, the kitchen was just part of the overall cost, and I don't know what the exact breakdown was. It wasn't installed by a kitchen company as such but was co-ordinated by the builder. The new laundry was actually created out of the old kitchen, and the new kitchen moved to the old meals area. Therefore, all the services had to be moved. There used to be an external door where the fridge now is, which was bricked up and rendered, and the old window height was halved to accommodate the new splash back. The ceiling, lighting and, of course, the floor were also replaced, and reverse cycle air con and underfloor heating installed. I am so sorry I can't be of more help re exact cost. If there is anything else I might be able to help with, please don't hesitate to ask. I just love my kitchen and actually wouldn't change a thing (the drawers are the best thing since sliced bread)!. For me, it just works really well and is so easy to clean! Good luck with your project, and I look forward to seeing photos!
