Now we are getting into details of our building plans and I've been on such a run with the helpful people today.
Hopefully I can help fellow forumers with some advice of my own one day..
Two kitchen makers have suggested boxing in on top of the overhead cabinets.
We like this idea so dust does not collect.
The area is a 2.7 m high ceiling and raked to the living and dining. The overheads will be above the stove area only (concealed range hood), maybe landscape orientation.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of doing this, does it generally provide a more finished look?
One kitchen place said they would use gyprock to then be painted, another said the cost can be reduced and still a good result using MDF.
Thoughts and comments? Thank you
While I am posting my plans, what do people think about dropping the bench length a little on the side of the kitchen nearest the living area (say bringing it closer back to the window near the sink). Is this bench too long?
