Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 21, 2015 10:21 pm I would love to get 2 ovens. I currently have 1 60cm oven and often can't fit everything in. The builder is giving us one 900mm oven as part of our package and will give us another 900 for a great price but will this be too much? Does anyone else have 2 900mm ovens or should I get 2 60cm ovens instead? Love some ideas! Re: Double oven - 900 or 600? 2Feb 22, 2015 12:48 am Unless your a serious baker/cook I think 2 900 ovens is over the top but if it's a good price and you have the room? Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Double oven - 900 or 600? 3Feb 22, 2015 8:23 am It would depend on the brand of oven they will supply. Most builders supply poor quality ovens cooktops etc. If you do a lot of cooking, do your self a favour and get a good quality oven. Because of the increased volume, a 900 oven takes longer to heat up than a 600, using more energy. We went for an AEG 600mm oven with a compact combo steam oven stacked on top, in a tower not underbench, in our build. In the end you need to consider what suits your cooking style and needs and choose accordingly. Re: Double oven - 900 or 600? 4Feb 22, 2015 9:24 pm As Adriang mentioned a 900 oven takes longer to warm up and in turn more energy & $$. It depends on how much you entertain, how big your family is and how often you use an oven:-) I went with 2 x 60 ovens and a warming draw. All Siemens. Good luck Re: Double oven - 900 or 600? 5Feb 25, 2015 12:05 pm I have my own baking business, so this was something important to me too. I upgraded our builder provided oven from a 600mm to a 900mm one, its a Westinghouse something or other, mounted under the bench top with hotplate on top. Will certainly do for family cooking and my overflow. For my business I have a 60cm Neff oven, in a wall stack at the other end of the kitchen so it won't be as obvious they aren't the same. This one has all the baking functions I need and will probably get used for family cooking too. In an ideal world I would've had 2 60cm Neff ovens and forgone the builder supplied one, but the budget has other ideas! There are many 900s that have the same volume as their 600 counterpart from the same manufacturer/series. I don't bake a lot but I do have a need for some larger items so I got a 760, of which there are not many. Re: Double oven - 900 or 600? 7Feb 27, 2015 10:03 pm Go for two 600mm's. The 900s are not all they're cracked up to be Re: Double oven - 900 or 600? 8Mar 03, 2015 11:29 am I want two x 600 or a decent double oven. One place doing our quote said they will not stack two 600s in a tower. Part of his reason was that the microwave would be too high, fair point and the other I think he just didn't think it was a good idea. Another said they would do that with a microwave but we would need to be aware one oven would be a bit too low. Would it be better to put one in a tower with microwave and the other underbench? Thoughts? Sorry to hijack! But yes on your thread I think 2 600 is the best option, check choice.com.au while some of the models may be old their reviews of ovens are excellent and give you the real capacity of lots of typical choices. 2 3905 Hi Chippy, no there isn't, gave it a really good look through and literally opened everything and checked all edges as well. Hence the question, just hoping someone would… 2 1156 My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven.
