Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 22, 2015 1:46 pm Hi all, just letting people out there know that there is a new product on the market that will be of interest when installing a dishwasher. As a Cabinetmaker I have fitted many dishwashers and now always use what's called a Pestblock. When installing a dishwasher a cut out for what is known as an Aquastop is made. It is usually quite large and generally in the base of the sink cabinet to plumb the inlet and waste hoses through. Up until now the hole has been left open to the kicker cavity below, and is unfortunately the perfect breeding ground for cockroaches and even mice. Believe me I have taken out literally thousands of old kitchens and you don't want to know what hides in your kickers if there are any holes to get through. You can pick one up at Lincoln Sentry. I'm not sure if they're sold anywhere else but they are made by an Aussie company called Harp Industries. If your cabinetmaker or dishwasher installer/plumber isn't using one you should ask. If they're worth their salt they'll already know what a Pestblock is. You can always pick one up yourself and retrofit too. I sincerely think this is a good product and of benefit to all new kitchens. I am installing a new Bosch SMU4HTS01A built under dushwasher. I have 2 questions.
