I have just bought a new house and the solid kitchen bench is rotting around the sink area. The 'lines'(?) in the wood are also separating so it looks cracked in some areas. I was hoping someone could advise me on what options i have in resplacing hopefully just the benchtop. We are that handy...and dont have much $$ left at all after paying all those wonderful govt fees when buying a home!! The rest of the kitchen pantry/cupboards are wood also, so im not sure what would match if i just changed the benchtop.. Laminate will go fine with the timber doors and carcass; I have done many kitchens with this. Laminate would probably be your cheapest alternative.
