Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Nov 17, 2014 12:48 pm Hi Guys, This is my very first post on the forum! how exciting... We are almost finished building our home and we just have the kitchen splashback to install. We are going to go just a simple white glass splashback or Calacatta Marble or the Carrara Marble as the kitchen splash back. Does anyone have this?.. if so, how does it wear? Im interested to see the pricing of it, is it stupidly expensive compaired to just glass? and do you have to buy it by the slab? Thanks in advance. But if they have no material than yes the stonemason will charge you for the slab. If you are going to use Calacatta Marble you just have to seal the stone with a stone sealer and shouldnt have any problems. I love the look of it very nice. Their Carrera marble looks amazingly real and it's available for panels as well as benchtops. http://www.laminex.com.au/products.php# ... era-marble Calacatta marble splashback - OPINIONS REVIEWS? 5Nov 22, 2014 5:26 pm The Carrera looks really good, generally you can go to a stone supplier and pick a slab with lots of vaining or limited vaining depending on your taste, and then have it cut to size. One thing to watch with the marble though is that it can mark easily if it gets acidic stains from things like oranges or orange juice. I have it at my place and so far so good, and it looks impressive if it is maintained well with a good sealer. All the best with it. Regards James. Re: Calacatta marble splashback - OPINIONS REVIEWS? 9Nov 27, 2014 11:04 pm travisaus It's around $2.5k for a standard 3m splash back. Seriously? That sounds really cheap! Where are you getting the marble from? Re: Calacatta marble splashback - OPINIONS REVIEWS? 10Dec 23, 2014 1:05 pm Yeah that does sound cheap. .. Not that much more than glass? Is that typical or would you usually wrap the splash back around that bit of wall? Seriously? That sounds really cheap! Where are you getting the marble from? Keep in mind.....the 2.5k per 3m slab is about right. But the cost to cut and slabs will cost a fair bit as well. For my kitchen island.....my quote came back double to nearly triple the price of slab itself. But island is heaps more cutting for sink and stuff.
