Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jun 08, 2008 2:01 pm As the tital suggests, our kitchen was delivered a few days ago, and we had chosen Laminex Clamshell!!!
The sample looked like a very milky coffee colour, but in the largeness of the kitchen it looks pink and almost salmon colour. Our home is a modern home and salmon is not what I would call a modern colour!!!!!!! The kitchen without the benchtop was about $4500, just wondering if someone in the know might know how dear it might be to replace all the doors and panels so I can have a different colour?????? I cant sleep at night, Ive made the biggest mistake!!!!!!!!!!! Re: I dont like the colour of my new kitchen!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2Jun 08, 2008 2:46 pm Oh you poor thing!!
Does it look pink bcause of your other colours in the house eg paint?? I would say it would be cheaper to repain than replace the panels. I've had a look at the clamshell - doesnt look pink to me, but it does look like a reflecting colour. I've learned to ignore them. The sample that Paula put up of your colour looks pink to me, did it look the same on the sample? I think its a nice colour but I do understand! could you maybe leave some of it (the drawers?) but replace the doors so its a highlight and not the whole thing to keep the cost down or put a dark stunning top on it to make that the feature? or paint them if you really hate it? a pic would help Re: I dont like the colour of my new kitchen!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8Jun 08, 2008 3:52 pm Thanks so much everyone!
I will try and take a pic ASAP, I will then just have to work out how to post it!!! The sample did not look anything like pink at all! It does look pink on the computer screen though. Its more like when you have the sample ****** flat it looks like the light latte colour, but when its vertical/upright it seems to look really pink/salmon!!!!!!!! Ive had friends look, and they all agree it looks pinkish. We do have the pinky rose gum floors, but the kitchen looked pink before they were put down. I went there yesterday when it was really sunny, and it didnt look pink, but I dont think I want to risk it all. I was hoping a kitchen person might come and say it might cost $2000 for new doors and panels, Yes, it wouldnt help the budget, but it would help me sleep!!!!! Only problem is....the laundry is the same colour!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did they get the samples mixed up (ie what was written your sample piece ) was not actually THE sample you chose? ps - it looks pinkish to me too - and that's a real worry Re: I dont like the colour of my new kitchen!!!!!!!!!!!!! 14Jun 08, 2008 4:08 pm Unfortunately NOT! We took the sample to the house, and when you hold it up to the kitchen it looks the same. I wish it was them who made the mistake!
I asked DH about ebay, he thinks probably not, as its all made the measure! Ive already got a window to sell on ebay lol! Re: I dont like the colour of my new kitchen!!!!!!!!!!!!! 18Jun 08, 2008 4:25 pm OK guys, Ive bitten the bullet and emailed our kitchen guy, we havent even paid for the kitchen yet!!!!
DH has said if it is $3000 or under we can get it done. So the question is....... Which colour will look good with ice snow casesarstone benchtops, with sandstoney stacker stone inside the waterfall edged island. With rose gum flooring????/ I am wanting something modern, but not going to date, but warm and homey without being too stark? I MIGHT be able to sleep tonight now!!! Re: I dont like the colour of my new kitchen!!!!!!!!!!!!! 19Jun 08, 2008 4:34 pm Just for a bit of trivia, Laminex list the colour we have "clamshell" in their "brown" range: http://www.laminex.com.au/colourinspiration.aspx
From the sample I considered it to be in the brown family!
