Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 24, 2014 3:19 pm We’re planning a kitchen reno at the same time as our extension and I’d love some help with the layout. Had a kitchen designer out but they weren’t very helpful tbh. The current kitchen is a U shape with the sink on the window, but that whole wall is being removed to create an open plan living area. Our new kitchen will be 3mx2.7m so it’s certainly a lot smaller than most on this forum! Option A (below) is probably the one I’m leaning towards most as it gives us the most bench space and an extra bank of 900mm pot drawers. The big downside is no pantry though. Also feel like that would break up our prep area… This is a rough floor plan of the extension if that helps. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Any thoughts H1 kitchen gurus? Would love feedback and opinions as we cant afford to fix it if it we get it wrong! Re: Kitchen Layout Help :) 2Sep 24, 2014 5:54 pm I don't like the sink in the corner of A and B. Seems impractical. So it falls to C by default. Does the office room need to occupy that amount of space? If not i'd be looking to change that area to make way for larger kitchen space. Re: Kitchen Layout Help :) 3Sep 24, 2014 6:08 pm The office (which is more my husbands games/entertaining area than anything else) will we eventually be turned into an ensuite/master so can't steal from there (or afford the $10k to knock down that supporting wall). Would option A be better if the sink was further up, so exactly in line with the walkway 120cm not encroaching the bottom corner at all? Re: Kitchen Layout Help :) 5Sep 25, 2014 9:38 pm With Option A you could change the oven/mwave to a pantry, put the sink on same wall where the cooktop is, put the cooktop and oven in the middle of the U, and the m/wave under the island section of the u shape kitchen. If you tend to leave dishes on sink it will be mostly hidden by pantry. You never have a fridge against wall as you’ve drawn. The doors can’t open past 90 degrees and it’s difficult and maybe impossible to remove drawers 2 15609 Hi, We're building a double-storey in Perth and I'm undecided with the kitchen sink situation. I'm set on having the main sink with dishwasher in the scullery - and… 0 20936 Thanks for the suggestion. The space between shower and sinks was too tight. I agree about the toilet location. So I have tried two other options: The lower one is… 3 6144 |
