Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Aug 24, 2014 11:09 pm Hope I am in the right area correct my if I am not. Just wondering if anyone has plumbed their own fridge in their new home We have a samsung with a water and ice dispenser and not sure if its a you tube video fix or a hire a plumber fix. The builder has left a capped water outlet as asked but I think I need some more parts than the ones the fridge came with. Your input is greatly appreciated. I am guessing I need a shut off valve? You could do it yourself but you'd risk voiding the warranty on the fridge and maybe an insurance claim for any possible leaks that could damage your kitchen floor and/or cupboards. Stewie Re: fridge plumbing 3Sep 07, 2014 6:38 am Good grief. Its as easy as hooking a hose up in your Garden. Can you connect up your washing machine? Its about the same level of difficulty Use quality fittings connect it up...........thats about it. if its all a bit tricky i'd suggesting grabbing your tablet taking a few piccys and waltzing into your full service corner Hardware store and seeking a bit of help. They will happily assist. Use PTFE Teflon tape on the fittings Cherrio Good Luck! They did this nice little alcove in the wall for pp and water outlet. Very well done. Neither stick out - so fridge goes right back. Attaching is easy enough - so long as you have all the parts - ie like a hose. The pipe from the fridge needs to have the end attachment(s) ... I guess a plumber would know about pressure etc etc. Re: fridge plumbing 6Sep 07, 2014 1:22 pm Yes WV, I've hooked them up before too but for someone like the OP who may not be the handiest person around ( that's why they've asked the question here ) getting someone else to do it may be their best option lest it all end in tears.
