Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jul 22, 2014 12:55 pm Hi, We are building a new house - have chosen all white/plain for the kitchen. Polar white drawers throughout, tiny stainless steel finger pull handles (the Ikea ones), pale stone benchtops. (Absolute stone Dune) I can't decide whether to get a white or stainless dishwasher? We already have a stainless steel fridge, and will be buying the matching "pigeon pair" freezer. Oven, cooktop and micro all stainless too. I'm looking at the Bosch dishwashers. So, white or stainless? Or is it hard/expensive to get the ones where you buy your own panel to match the rest of the kitchen? Also, we have on our colour selections that we chose Glasskote Bauxite metallix as the kitchen splash back. I couldn't remember so looked on the website, and it looks black? I know I wouldn't have chosen a black splashback - can anyone tell me if it really is black? I might have chosen a darkish grey....... but I thought we went a bit lighter. When I went back to the tile shop, they didn't have a sample of it. (By the end of the process, we were SO tired - I just can't remember). Any help or ideas appreciated!!! Re: Help me with D/washer & splashback colour, please? 3Jul 22, 2014 5:17 pm I like white - we had the dishlex 301 series - found it very good and well priced. http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/dish ... r-dx301wk/ They deliver and often install. AND - take way the old one. But install is easy. Free delivery too. Re: Help me with D/washer & splashback colour, please? 4Jul 22, 2014 5:24 pm I agree with cupcakes on this one. It will also depend whether you are having a freestanding, semi-integrated or integrated dishwasher as to how much impact the colour of it will have. As for the splashback, I think if you have gone with a very subdued palate for the whole kitchen you could put absolutely anything back there. This will partly depend on the layout and position of your kitchen if its worth making a visual feature of the splashback or not (and how bold you want to be)! As an example, we've gone with an all white kitchen, light grey benchtops and a dark, bold splashback (black tulip is the colour name). Unfortunately I don't have pics yet, hopefully it is in this weekend so I can share... You can't see the dishwasher from the living area, but you will as you come into the living area from the hallway/front door, if that makes sense. I think from that point of view, I might go with white. Does anyone know how much the integrated/semi-integrated panels tend to cost? I don't want to add hundreds to the price of the dishwasher..... if it is just white anyway. And I suppose it will stand out, as the whole kitchen is drawers, so the dishwasher panel would be bigger anyway. Might as well stick with plain white. CluelessOne - Can't wait to see your photos. I quite like the look of the black splashbacks, just didn't plan on going so dark. I can't imagine that I picked it! Maybe it is a charcoal colour....... Ah well, not going to pay the builder to change it, it has cost a fortune through them as it is. Just need to get my head around it so that I like it by the time it arrives, rather than get a shock, if you know what I mean. Does your kitchen get much natural light? My company bought over large samples so i could see how they looked in my kitchen. Is this an option with your glass company? Re: Help me with D/washer & splashback colour, please? 8Aug 03, 2014 2:59 pm White dishwashers look cheap and nasty! I would put an integrated dishwasher in. Either semi or fully integrated look so much better than a free standing dishwasher.
