Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Aug 03, 2014 9:22 pm Hi all I have quickly gone through the search field & other possible related topics to check if the above subject has already been covered, but couldn't find any results so I apologize if there is already a thread, and if so please let me know. We like the idea of a ceiling pot rack (sample images to come), however I'm not sure if there's anything specific we need to request from the builder, or ask to do so that we can do it in a few months' time after handover? Being a noob, other questions would be if the standard roof trusses can hold weight of pots, or do we need better wood? --- Re: Ceiling Pot Racks 2Aug 03, 2014 9:26 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Any tips/suggestions/recommendations are welcome, just would like to know if this is feasible and the requirements to pull it off if we choose to go ahead with the concept --- Re: Ceiling Pot Racks 4Aug 03, 2014 11:49 pm 2-cupcakes-pls I like the ladder!! I just googled to show what I mean.. I reckon it's quite stylish and would free up space in our cupboards, provided our pots and pans are all shiny and top quality (imagine hanging worn out pots with burn marks and melted handles lol) So would I need to ask an engineer to tell me how to make it feasible? Are the standard panels sufficient? It would be a few kgs after all pots are hung. I know I sound basic but that's my knowledge - very basic! --- Re: Ceiling Pot Racks 5Aug 04, 2014 12:30 am I must say that i actually like storing all of the cooking utensils in a container so that they sit upright. Its great that you can see them all. I think the pot rack has to be a certain sort of kitchen to pull the look off. My best friends kitchen is in an old house and is country style so it all kinda works. If you are hanging all lodge cookware like the ladder pic I think you need it to be installed properly so it doesn't pull through. The cast iron stuff is heavy, but I assume you know that. I do know that... Now. Obviously not something I thought about! Agree that it depends on the look of the kitchen/house. That's why I guess I just wanna know the provisions needed to be able to consider it down the track without any major redevelopments. Definitely will employ someone to consult/install, someone who knows what they're doing and talking about ie not me. --- Re: Ceiling Pot Racks 7Aug 04, 2014 12:39 am Here are a few more in the same train of thought as the ladder: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ --- Re: Ceiling Pot Racks 8Aug 04, 2014 9:04 am If you could put some 70 x 35 battens above the timber that holds the gyprock up, and secure your ladder or whatever you are hanging down, then you shouldn't have any problems, as the weight will be supported across a large area.
