Re: how much would you spend on a fridge? 2Jul 09, 2014 8:14 pm Hmmmm.... to be honest it depends on what it looks like. All those features sound great but if its going to look too dated in 10 or 20 years time is it really worth it? In general I wouldn't spend more than $3000 on a fridge but I would expect around 10 years from it, not 40 years. Fridges aren't something I'd spent a lot of money on, but we all have different priorities Custom downslope build Build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61873 Blog http://www.buildingroyalmanor.blogspot.com.au Re: how much would you spend on a fridge? 3Jul 09, 2014 8:20 pm I doubt any fridge would last forty years but I reckon you already know what you want and are trying to justify it hahaha. As much as I need to spend, but ultimately it is YOU who has to decide what you want. I doubt any fridge built these days would last much longer than 10 years, so I doubt you'll get 40 years out of one. I've got mates who have bought brand name fridges that have only lasted them only 5 - 7 years ! Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. I did manage to justify most things but not the fridge. The main issue for me is whether you are bound to the same fridge when it packs in? I also looked at capacity and thought that they were not that large. End of the day I am going with Samsung 907L on the premise that its about less than 15% of the price and easily replaced. 28K I would spend 4 and use the cash else where. Maybe build with a space that can take the sub zero and then you have the option to replace and upgrade if the cheaper on is not floating it for you. Re: how much would you spend on a fridge? 13Jul 09, 2014 11:08 pm AussieMark End of the day I am going with Samsung 907L on the premise that its about less than 15% of the price and easily replaced. . Hi Mark! Long time no speak I just googled a 907L Samsung and it brought no results, but instead gave me an LG option for 907L? Thought Samsung brought a new one out, only coz I have my eye on the 801L but 907 would be better... --- Re: how much would you spend on a fridge? 14Jul 09, 2014 11:50 pm I bought my Fischer and Paykel in 1991 when I did my first renovation and it's still doing just fine. Admittedly replaced by a larger F&P a few years ago and relegated to the garage as beer fridge and secondary storage but never given us any trouble at all and can't remember the last time it was serviced. Paying that sort of money for a domestic appliance is foolhardy unless money is no object for you. It is the one I am planning to get as the freezer section has doors rather than a big drawer so I think things will be more accessible. The model no is SRF924DLS and I saw it at Harvey Norman - I think it was around $4k. Re: how much would you spend on a fridge? 16Jul 10, 2014 1:18 am My bad H1Login you are correct, it is an LG, the 907 has hte ice and water whereas the 951 doesnt. I like the door in door as well. I will also check out what Samsung has to offer as well just need to check dimensions. Re: how much would you spend on a fridge? 17Jul 10, 2014 9:39 am deluxes That fridge would want to do more than store food for me for $28,000. It'd have to cook it and clean up afterwards And dispense cash back to me Oh me too!! Each to their own, but you can buy a car, go on a holiday, get your fridge and have change in your pocket for $28,000!! I'm thinking id spend no more than $2-3k for a fridge. Re: how much would you spend on a fridge? 19Jul 10, 2014 11:36 am I doubt I would spend that kind of money on a fridge. I saw a lovely black one that is $5000... and I think that is really pushing it for a fridge. $28,000 is 9 x $3000 fridges, that is 90 years.... you think your gonna need that many? But of course its up to you and its your money and you are entitled to spend it just however you feel like! The amount of $$$ I wasted on cars in my late teens up to a few years ago... we'll lets just say I could get quite a few $28k fridges and have been told numerous times I was insane.
