Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 18, 2014 9:11 pm Hi, we are currently planning some extensions and renovations and I'm having trouble planning the kitchen. For reference, after the extension the house floor plan will look like below. This is with the original kitchen/dining/living as it is now. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I want to open the living spaces up a bit to combine the kitchen/living/dining, but I don't want it completely open plan. I really want a large expanse of bench space somewhere to do baking/prep/homework/breakfast bar and I want to be able to keep an eye on the other rooms but not have to stare at the dirty kitchen all day. These are the two designs I'm considering but very option to suggestions! Kitchen size is 2950x2400. Kitchen 1: Coutnertop goes further than wall because fridge wont fit inside. Suggestions, advice, feedback? Re: Kitchen Reno - Layout Opinions Please? 3May 19, 2014 10:04 am I definitely prefer kitchen 2. The only negative I see there is that people sitting at the breakfast bar might sometimes be in the way of traffic to the kids play room. Not a big issue for me, although it might be for someone. Re: Kitchen Reno - Layout Opinions Please? 5May 20, 2014 12:34 pm I guess layout one won't be possible because the widthe of the room is not enough for a dining table with chairs on either side plus the bar stools. The kitchen is 295 cm long and I assume the rest for the dining area is about 250 cm wide. For a chair you need at least 65 cm in depth, times 2 is 130 plus a table 100cm wide and you are at 230 cm. Try to draw your other furniture in the room with correct measurements. You have asked about the layout of your kitchen already a few months ago. Why don't you go to a couple of kitchen makers and asked them for their opinion? Re: Kitchen Reno - Layout Opinions Please? 6May 20, 2014 3:47 pm Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm actually about to get a few kitchen quotes done, but I thought I should know what I'm asking to quote on before getting them out You never have a fridge against wall as you’ve drawn.
