Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 25, 2014 7:42 pm I hate the colour of my kitchen cabinets. They are laminex colour "raw linen". I really want something lighter and brighter like laminex colour "parchment". Our cabinetry is polyurethane and only 2 years old. How hard would it be to change the colour? That is what are my options? And would it be expensive? That is am I better to suck it up and wait a few more years until the kitchen has aged? Re: changing colour of polyurethane kitchen 2Apr 26, 2014 11:13 am Are the doors laminex?? or have they been sprayed in polyurethane in the same colour? If its polyurethane you can pull all the doors and drawers off and have them resprayed easily. The hardest part is the end panels. Some are easy but there are some panels that require cabinets to be removed to get them out. Polyurethane is around $80-100sqm to spray if you go direct to the painter. We upgraded from laminex to polyurethane. That price isn't too bad but I think we do have a couple of side panels that would be extremely difficult to remove as it is the side of full height pantry that attaches to caesar stone bench and cabinets above and below bench. I think I will look into it further. If you know what you are doing those panels are not that hard to remove. Take your time and remove every screw, cut the silicon seel with a knife and sometime you can loosen the pantry cabinet and move it across slightly to remove the panel.
