DH often cooks a roast on the weekend and so we are in the kitchen together and find that we get in each others way eg I'm trying to make the gravy while he is trying to get the roast out of the oven....it drives us crazy. But that's us, you need to think about how you use your kitchen, if only one person cooks at a time then it most probably won't be a problem. Good luck That's a very good point! We've always had wall ovens in our kitchens, and had to have one in our recent reno as we wanted a double oven. The few times I've used an underbench oven I always get a faceful of hot steam as I open the door which standing over it - another advantage of having a wall oven. (Though I do agree with the other posts about losing bench space - we could have done with an extra 60cm of bench in our small kitchen!) Yes....bloody annoying when you wear glasses (both DW and myslef)....nothing worse than when your glasses fogging up just as you're taking something hot out of the oven... PS....and for all you sickos.....no double entendre intendend.... mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: OVEN under STOVE- What do you think? 18May 28, 2008 1:48 pm to_do_list alabaster The few times I've used an underbench oven I always get a faceful of hot steam as I open the door which standing over it - another advantage of having a wall oven. I almost choked holding that comment back Fiona Re: OVEN under STOVE- What do you think? 19May 28, 2008 5:55 pm That's the way I've always had oven & hotplates, and never had a problem. It's not that way in the rental we're in, and is no better (or worse!) I have never had gas cooktop until this (rental) place, and I don't know why everyone raves abot it - I was just as happy with electric . I'm having induction hotplates in my new place (we're going to replace what PD put in - long story...for another time!!!) which are just as responsive, and a lot safer than gas (..just in time for when the kids are old enough to be far less at risk!!!!LOL!) So, I guess it really is a personal choice, and what you feel comfortable with! Re: OVEN under STOVE- What do you think? 20May 29, 2008 11:54 pm Hello all,
Between faceful's of hot steam and taking something hot out of the oven, and extra bench space ...... however shall I ever choose. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mike.. what makes you come up with these lines??? Now if and when I ever build my home I shall never be able to look at the oven , underbench or otherwise in the same light!!! Raz If you think you can, you can. No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 6634 Hi Chippy, no there isn't, gave it a really good look through and literally opened everything and checked all edges as well. Hence the question, just hoping someone would… 2 2083 My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven. It's personal preferance 5 10878 |
