Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 13, 2014 11:55 am Hi, can anyone give me some pros and cons of either (but not granite). We are thinking of building an investment property for short term holiday let. I would appreciate if it your answer can include things like cleaning, durability, maintenance, price of "standard" vs upgraded color collections... Re: Corian vs stone and quartz benchtops 2Apr 13, 2014 3:22 pm From my understanding Corian scratches a lot easier over quartz, and also Corian isn't as heat resistant. The only plus to Corian would be you can achieve a more seamless look as it won't have a requirement for joins like quartz. I'd say overall the quartz benchtops would be better durability wise. Also, from what I've heard about Corian it has a dull appearance and may look a bit 'plastic'. But I'd say with some colour options available, it may be able to imitate a quartz look. As for Corian colours, you can look here: http://www.thermoform.com.au/corian. But colours would probably depend on the supplier. In regards to pricing, I'm not sure. I agree with everything said above. Corian is normally more expensive than the standard quartz range.
