Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 09, 2014 12:27 pm Hi Homeoners, I was just wondering how many (if any) of you have gone to visit the CSR house at the PGH selection centre at Schofields. I went there yesterday and was impressed. I thought they showcased many of the materials well and showed how an 8 star house is readily achievable in a regular home. I would be interested in any comments that anyone may have. By the way, I don't work for CSR or PGH or have any affiliation with them, I just really like what they are doing there. We've been out too, Forg put me on to it. Like you, I was impressed. I thought I saw a price for its construction somewhere but I can't remember where I saw it. Also can't remember the figure, so I won't post a guess here in case I'm way off the mark, but I was impressed that it wasn't ridiculously more expensive than a project home. That said, it's smaller than what we're hoping to build, but I'm hoping to incorporate many of their principles and features in our build. I particularly liked being able to see the eaves to get an idea of their width, and what they did with lighting - I'd like to avoid down lights but also want ceiling fans everywhere, but don't want to rely just on lamps and wall lighting. I was also impressed with the amount of glazing in the house - the brochure says they reduced glazing to achieve the 8-star rating, but there is still plenty of light, and not because every light in the house was turned on! I'm glad you were impressed too. I'll do a bit more research on the costs as well as people really need this kind of info when they are deciding on what to build. Cheers, Jenny.
