Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: Gas cooktop with electric oven underneath?? 5Mar 25, 2014 5:41 pm seano Its fine but the gas pipe should be a flexible hose when it runs through the same cabinet as the oven, the join to the solid pipework should be in the next cupboard along. Note: that information is as per my gasfitter who installed our gas cooktop above electric oven. The previous owners had diy-ed it and literally had the pipe and join sitting on top of the powerpoint using it as support. The oven was also sitting on top of some MDF not secured in any way either. Hi you've answered my concerns, the flexible hose we don't have ours is a solid copper pipe (I guess) and it is in the cupboard directly under the cooktop where the oven needs to go, the pipe is what had me worried as I would think it cuts into the depth too far. I will have to get a gas plumber out to move all this you have now explained what we need so that's great thanks BTW do you mind if I ask how much you paid a gasfitter to install your cooktop? Thanks My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven.
