Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 19, 2014 10:52 am Hi, I'm after some members who have had some recent experience and great results at a reasonable price with Kitchen companies who service the Newcastle area. I'm thinking soft closed doors in frequently used cupboards, 2 half load dishwashers gas oven and cooktop ceasarstone benchtops under mount sink 2 pack painted cabinetry glass splashbacks any good experiences please share who you used below. Re: Best quality, reasonable price kitchens in Newcastle? 2Mar 23, 2014 7:11 pm got a quote from freedom, sounded good 12k with out benchtops and appliances. Then we read the reviews. no way! they tried the quick sell discount thing 15% off call the manager thing, we didnt sign up. now we are looking at local guys such as Garry Jeans at New Lambton Valley Kitchens Cutting Edge Joinery we are also now looking at Laminex flat packs as an option so we can splurge on Super White Granite hopefully. again! anyone who has had some experience with any of the above companies recently! would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on potential savings to be made! Re: Best quality, reasonable price kitchens in Newcastle? 3Mar 24, 2014 11:29 am We're currently planning our renovations and one of my workmates recommended Romos Homemaker Centre at Rutherford. They supply flatpack cabinets from China along with benchtops, bathroom fittings, etc. My friend went with them because their prices were significantly lower than other quotes he received. They supply everything in flatpack but will provide a list of kitchen and bench installers. I haven't used them yet but they're definately on my shortlist. Thanks, im after long life products though, even thinking the 7yr warranty laminex provide isnt enough. Thinking polyurethane doors and cupboards. Seems like the only way to get the shark tooth edge. Next option would be vacuum sealed products from tesrol. just be wary with the hardware (hinges) Romo's supply, i believe Blum and Hettich are the most reputable in the market atm. Re: Best quality, reasonable price kitchens in Newcastle? 5Mar 26, 2014 10:36 pm I've within the last few months gone through exactly that process.. I've talked to about 5 kitchen makers Freedom - waste of time they love the hard sell at your home.. sign on the day or not at all.. not how I like to do business. kitchen Connection - Less pushy but still a hard in your home sell... (note their discounts repeat every 2 months 50% off cabinets / 20% off kitchen..) about the same price range as Freedom Aria kitchens - Don't even go there, couldn't screw in a light bulb let alone design a kitchen... got the dimensions wrong 3 times... enough said.. Ok so ignore those corporate guys first and foremost. Chinese imports.. Panda kitchens - reasonably cheap but they make up for that with poor service (2 weeks to get a response via email that happened 3 times....) My final choice picks were Magnet kitchens - reasonable service reasonable price My preferred Apollo kitchens - Awesome service, Price matched with magnet and only about 500 more than Panda in the end. Try and use Jess if possible she's incredibly happy to help and replies promptly to everything. Kitchen size U Shaped 3.5m (2.4m high cabinets) x 2.7 (2.4m high cabinets) x 4.0m (bench height only) That's probably average to above average kitchen size for most homes Inclusions Vinyl wrap finished doors Soft close everything (Hettich brand) Ceaserstone bench 20mm (low end range) Double undermount sinks Waterfall end (bench height side only) Corner baskets double 15L bins under sink 2 banks of drawers units (the high quality fully opening variety) 1 Microwave / pot drawer unit Price $10,200 inc GST That may not be the best price I got offered but it's surprising how the likes of Panda kitchens (Chinese imports) offer the units for $7,000 but charge extra on everything else (sinks bench tops etc) for a price that works out the pretty much the same as the Aussy made. Good luck with your kitchen Hoped this hels Mat Re: Best quality, reasonable price kitchens in Newcastle? 6Mar 27, 2014 9:56 am We used Valley in our kitchen - love love love them but they are pricey from memory. Garry Jeans is awesome too - not a kitchen but we recently had him do a complete wall of floor to ceiling cupboards in our toy room. Both he and his staff are the consummate professionals and a pleasure to deal with. Some things are worth waiting for. Thanks for the details. seems you have a great kitchen. was it just the standard range of ceasarstone tops. From what i can tell your benchtops would have been around $4k alone meaning you got an absolute steal on your cabinetry and inclusions. they even through in the double undermount sink? Re: Best quality, reasonable price kitchens in Newcastle? 8Sep 03, 2015 5:17 pm I'd like to share a few observations and experiences, I don't often post in forums but here goes. Having spent quite a few hours in a number of local kitchen and building company businesses both front and back of house I've had time to see how the staff in those businesses interact with clients, how they treat each other and the way they speak about their products and clients. I've no doubt that whatever the experiences described above were valid for that person at that time. However I also know that it is quite human and reasonable to have occasional times when maybe we had a busy morning or some issues that were distracting and one might forget that one is 'on show' in front of clients, or there are times when staff are learning etc. Generally I think its reasonable to expect that business owners and staff aim to be their best as often as possible and that sometimes mistakes or errors of judgement or lapses of concentration can occur. Something that I think is not always obvious from the outside is that many businesses, even franchises are run by families who are there on a daily basis and they have a considerable interest in the positive outcomes of their work. Disclosure of interest: I head a web design business and have spent time with many businesses including those listed below who may be clients as part of the work to be done in finding out what the people and businesses are like, to familiarise with their style, voice, products and services. We have multiple client businesses in many categories including kitchens and building and where possible we take time to get to know the people in the business and see what they do. Plus as a resident of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie I've had lots of time being a consumer and buyer from local businesses. It is really quite rare to find people or businesses that are deliberately rude or unwilling to help other people. Mostly people are trying to be good and honest and helpful. You get the odd one out sometimes that isn't so terrific to deal with but who knows maybe they have other problems that is affecting there work. Specifically on kitchens and bathrooms I can say in dealing with the following companies (listed in alphabetical order, not an exhaustive list but simply as an example) over many years I have found them to be friendly, helpful and professional in their attitudes and approaches. I can happily recommend the following companies to family, friends or anyone who cared to ask for my suggestion on a kitchen or bathroom installer or similar: Aria Kitchens Bay Joinery and Benchtops Budget Kitchens Bunnings Kitchens Cameron Park Plumbing Capri Building Designer Kitchen and Stone Factory Keiths Designer Kitchens Reece Plumbing Williams Designer Homes These businesses, and the owners of them are all in my experience people of integrity and whom will go to considerable lengths to provide good service at reasonable prices with suitable materials and fabrication and they expect all their staff to do the same. Plus, like most businesses the good word of mouth from happy clients is a key part of the way that new customers find such. If I'm going to have some interaction with a business either as a customer or supplier I generally like to do a bit of research like on facebook, their website, call and or email them, visit the business, see if anyone I know has dealt with them, maybe check on their credentials etc. Plus, and this is especially true with online reviews and tripadvisor is classic for this, I'm always mindful that happy customers don't often say anything much, but the occasional unhappy ones can be quite vocal, and so taking a balanced view of what is published and what I see or experience about a business is a sensible approach. I didn't want to make this into a specific endorsement or defence of any one company and I've tried to avoid using language that will seem biased or overly glowing. I hope that my thoughts will have provided some insight to local businesses, there are thousands of terrific people running family businesses in our region and they are on the whole from what I have seen a very hard working and honest lot. Thank you. Jeremy Re: Best quality, reasonable price kitchens in Newcastle? 9Sep 07, 2015 9:59 am Magnet Kitchens in Cardiff were great for our new build. They don't have a website for some reason but they're at 7 Aminya Place, Cardiff. Re: Best quality, reasonable price kitchens in Newcastle? 10Sep 08, 2015 2:37 am Tread tell us who ended up doing your kitchen and the result Seems good to me. I've been told $4-5k/sqm is reasonable in Perth. 2 11171 "is it exempt or do I need to get permission from council" Call your Council and ask them 1 1568 Wow I hadn't realised things had gotten that pricey in just a couple of years since I built, that is crazy with how much land is now costing if you aren't lucky enough to… 3 7112 |
