Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 10, 2014 3:37 pm We were looking for built in microwaves over the weekend and were really surprised at the lack of choice for a good , reasonably priced microwave with trim kit (looking at spending aabout $600 for both) In HN we saw this Omega microwave with grill which looked great but the online reviews are terrible for that. Other than that Westinghouse and DeLonghi in about the same price range. Any recommendations for any of these microwaves or any other microwave with grill , also available with trim kit ? Suggestions please? Thanks in Advance. Re: Recommendations for good built in microwave 2Feb 11, 2014 10:30 pm I think most built in microwaves in that price range are of similar quality as they're mostly made in China or other Asian countries but if I have to choose I'd pick Westinghouse or Delonghi as they seem to be reputable brands of kitchen appliances. If you don't mind spending a bit more you can look at the Smeg SBIM30X, it has grill and steam functions and no separate trim kit needed and it looks much nicer (and easier to clean) than one with a separate trim kit. http://www.appliancewarehouse.com.au/p-5379-25l-smeg-built-in-microwave-oven.aspx?utm_source=getprice&utm_medium=cpc And if you don't mind spending around $1000 then the Miele M8260 (no grill) or M8261 (with grill) are nice, both need no separate trim kits and are made in Europe. Miele reduced the prices as these are old models, I think they're $1099 and $1299 respectively. Also the Bosch one is nice too, no grill but it has a drop down door and no turntable so inside is pretty big, good for big plates and platters. http://www.binglee.com.au/bosch-hmt35m653a-built-in-microwave-oven-171 Ikea also has one at a good price for $400, no separate trim kit and no brand name on the door and no handle so it can match ovens from other brands and I;m pretty sure it's made in Sweden (I remember checking out the label inside the microwave). But it has no grill and it pretty small. http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/30226125/ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And is your microwave above the oven? If so you may also want to think about whether it'll match the oven such its handle and the colour of the door, for example, steel, black glass or mirror finish. Re: Recommendations for good built in microwave 3Feb 12, 2014 6:40 am I bought this microwave and the matching trim kit for $676. I bought it when it was on sale. If you're not in a hurry to buy it keep your eye on this website as they often have sales and items are randomly reduced ie. I picked this model up for $399. http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/smeg ... ave-sa37x/ Custom downslope build Build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61873 Blog http://www.buildingroyalmanor.blogspot.com.au Re: Recommendations for good built in microwave 4Feb 12, 2014 10:42 am I bought a SMEG microwave (was on sale at appliances online). Works great other than the fact it's bloody noisy. The side vibrates (seems to be a common complaint) but is easily fixed by putting something between the side of the microwave and the wall of the cabinet (like a squash ball lol) that applies a slight bit of pressure to the vibrating panel. No more noise. Completed a knock down and rebuild in northern Melbourne. Handover completed 27/09/2013 and now moved in. Really tight at the top of the stairs- how to get furniture into those rooms?
