We are currently installing a new kitchen, cupboards are in, the granite benchtops are siliconed in place on top. So the next step is the to cut out the holes for the sink and cooktop. The way the kitchen is designed is such that the dishwasher is under the draining area of the sink. Right next to it is a corner pantry, so there is a large end piece which the end of the granite is stuck to.
Our concern is that when we cut out the piece for the sink, the hole will extend above the void that the dishwasher goes in, and there won't be enough support for the granite.
The best solution that we can come up with so far is to cut out a piece of custom wood to use as a support underneath, and attach that to the end piece and wall, but of course that is still going to have the cutout as well - so it's not ideal. Plus then that involves having to try to put a piece of trim or something on the front section, to hide the edge, and it won't leave a lot of room to slide the dishwasher in underneath, so it's a lot of messing around.
Does anyone have any better ideas? I hope I've kind of explained the situation so it makes sense.
