Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 07, 2014 10:15 am Hi all, We have recently gone through the process of renovating our kitchen. It looks awesome however we've had some issues with what was supposed to be Quantum Quartz bench tops. As it turns out the bench tops are not genuine Quantum Quartz, they are a counterfeit version. We found this out due to the bottom of the bench tops not being stamped. We would never had discovered this but we had an issue with the cooktop cut out and after doing some research and learning that each piece should have been stamped with the batch number, I checked and there was no batch number. We have confirmed with Quantum Quartz that it is counterfeit and after a lot of deception and misdirection from the kitchen installer are on the verge of making an agreement which whilst it will not make us completely happy, will resolve the situation. So, just a warning that if you have had a kitchen renovation done in Sydney, to check the underside of your bench tops and ensure that the product you have is what you expect and what you paid for. This particular kitchen company does kitchens all across Sydney, from the Eastern Suburbs (from what I've heard some very high end jobs) to the Western Suburbs. I'm not going to name the company publicly but if you do want more information feel free to PM me. Thanks, Mel Re: Check your bench tops!! 2Jan 07, 2014 10:55 am Good info. Just a question though. What actually makes it counterfiet. Have they tried to reproce the product in the same color pattern as quantum quartz? Do you know what the true brand of the one you have is? There are no QQ stamps on the underside so its not QQ there for if it is sold as QQ it is fake or a counterfeit. Most stone manufactures copy colours of the other suppliers. There is actually a comparison sheet in the industry comparing colours! We were quoted Quantum Quartz in Galaxy White, when we questioned if it was after discovering it didn't have the stamp, were told it was by the kitchen company but told it was something different by the guys who installed the stone. Essentially its a cheaper import version of what QQ Galaxy White should be. After taking a sample of it to QQ they have confirmed that it is not their stone. Haven't got a clue what the true brand is, I'd love to find out as that may help with the resolution of the whole issue! Re: Check your bench tops!! 5Jan 07, 2014 8:45 pm melf B STAR Good info. I was trying to establish whether it was the manufacture of the stone or the local company that was at fault. From what u say it's the kitchen company. It doesn't sound like the stone manufacture has done anything wrong. Re: Check your bench tops!! 6Jan 07, 2014 8:52 pm It is most definitely the kitchen company who are in the wrong here. CUK - I attempted to respond to your PM but it doesn't appear to have gone through. Please let me know if you have received it. We are in the process of determining whether or not the kitchen company should replace the bench tops and splash backs (potential to cause damage) or settle with a reduction in price which results in about a quarter of the total cost of the stone charge and installation. Re: Check your bench tops!! 7Jan 08, 2014 6:42 am I'd be telling them you will pay their invoice cost of the material, no labour, no markups. Or they replace the lot, for not a cent extra and they fix any damage that occurs. They have deliberately deceived you by the sound of it. Not a chance I'd accept a quarter reduction only in the stone costs. Wonder how many other poor suckers they've done this to and reaped the hyper inflated profits from? i would suggest nothing is unreasonable for PCI. we did all sorts, including checking the hot water, checking all the GPO's had power, testing that the showers were… 9 98623 Hi - thanks for your reply.
