Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: vinyl wrap shaker kitchen, how much extra??? 2Dec 20, 2013 1:56 pm Who are you building with? A cabinet maker would probably charge around $1500-$2000 extra but a spec builder could charge anywhere from $3000 and up! There are better options that vinyl wrap. Vinyl wrap would be my last pick of all the kitchen doors. I actively talk people away from vinyl! We have been allowed to choose who we would like to build the kitchen. I do really like the look of the shaker style kitchen, but what would you recommend we use instead of vinyl? Thanks for your input CuttingEdgeKitechens Re: vinyl wrap shaker kitchen, how much extra??? 4Dec 21, 2013 10:16 am chopstix I do really like the look of the shaker style kitchen, but what would you recommend we use instead of vinyl? Thanks for your input CuttingEdgeKitechens Everything else is better! If you are after a shaker style door then I would suggest polyurethane is a much better option. Polyurethane can be done in matt, satin, semi gloss and gloss in any colour. It doesn't have any heat issues and can be repaired and resprayed if every needed. Vinyl wrap will eventually start to peel off with any sort of heat from ovens, toasters and kettles. So of the cheap vinyl has been know to just fall completely off! I was told by our cabinet maker that it would cost about 25% extra on top of the kitchen price for 2-pac, is that about what I should expect. Thanks again Re: vinyl wrap shaker kitchen, how much extra??? 6Dec 22, 2013 8:36 pm We are building with henley. I really want to upgrade to laminex polytec (think that's what it's called) as I desperately want a shaker kitchen. We had an info session and one of the colour consultants there said approx $10,000. I almost died. I wasn't satisfied with her answer as she sought of fobbed us off so I called henley and they said to expect $5000+. Can't give me an actual quote until we get to tender. Price obviously varies on size of kitchen but some builders make a lot more profit on it than others. Anyone building with henley that chose the polytec upgrade and is willing to tell me how much the upgrade was I would be forever grateful. Losing hope ill be able to have my dream kitchen. In reality 2pac only costs around $1500-2000 for a full kitchen. But you need to then allow to deduct the cost of the basic doors so the upgrade only costs the builder $600-$1200 Cutting Edge Kitchens and Cabinet Making http://cuttingedgekitchens.net.au http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cutting-Edge-Kitchens/290484196676 Mobile : 0419 430 575 PH: 9452 4772 Fax :9452 4772 cuttingedgekitchens@outlook.com Re: vinyl wrap shaker kitchen, how much extra??? 9Dec 28, 2013 7:38 am Emz I really want to upgrade to laminex polytec (think that's what it's called) Laminex and Polytec are two different not to mention competing companies, neither is a specific product name. Though Laminex is often a generic name that people think of and call laminate doors and benches. Bit like how people always refer to plaster board as Gyproc, despite Gyproc being a specific brand. Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed.
