Definitely go for a WIP. It's a must for me too! Same with others, I suggest that you put in a window to your pantry (or a skylight?). That way, natural light would come in. I also reckon a 20cm depth is enough, because you have a long pantry anyway. Good luck! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Paula, Did the internet pantry take long to install Or is it just vapourware and gone up with the ether Steve Re: WOULD THIS PANTRY BE TOO CRAMPED? 23May 13, 2008 10:08 pm kyton We are having a similar setup in our new home. Overall length will be 5.3m long and width will be 1200mm (shelving of 300mm and walk space of 900mm). Can't wait - we are having our wine fridges installed in their along with our microwave etc. The pantry of all pantrys!!! Thats one long pantry, here is a pic of the pantry at the new house with a wine fridge - we will probably put a fridge with ice maker in instead, we are not wine drinkers. Paula Re: WOULD THIS PANTRY BE TOO CRAMPED? 24May 13, 2008 10:35 pm Kyton,
Its as Paula says.. A pantry to beat all pantries!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you have a floor plan or pictures from the display home , would love to see your pantry. However if you have your microwave in there... would this be to reach? I am now thinking if I should have a door to the dining room from the pantry? maybe not. Raz If you think you can, you can. Re: WOULD THIS PANTRY BE TOO CRAMPED? 26May 13, 2008 10:42 pm Hi Paula,

Lucky you were able to fast forward yourself into future!!! we have to build brick by brick to create our future!!!!!!!! Wishing you all the very best in your new home. Raz If you think you can, you can. Re: WOULD THIS PANTRY BE TOO CRAMPED? 29May 14, 2008 9:57 am Raz arkraider If you don't do alot / any formal dining, I would lose the dining room and bring the kitchen bench back so it is level with the oposing wall, and then you could make the walk in pantry a very useable size. This would alos increase your family / meals area. Then you could have a very seperate meals area and create the family room... We don't do any "formal" dining here, just a very relaxed dining and during summer we are luck if we even eat inside. We will cook inside or on the bar-b and eat under the alfresco..... So we have no need or want for a "formal" dining room. Thanks for your ideas. I look forward to all differnt ideas... not confused at all. What you say about the dining room is very practical but I just love the idea of a formal dining opening into the couryard, however the dining room is now 3.1 by 4.4 so I dont think that I could have anything other than a table in there. I dont think there would be room for a cabinet for glasses or cutlery. What size is your Alfresco. I am looking for ideas to make the alfresco look nice. Raz Our Alfresco area is approx "4 x 8 mtrs". But I notice you have a large Alfresco out the back also, so you are really trying to create a court yard affect off your lounge room. I think you could make it stunning and not only that almost a private out door space for the adults coming off the lounge.. if you chose to lose the "formal dinding" by doing something similar to what I wrote above, you could always incorporate some circular windows down in that end of the WIP, with some bench space and double sink (preperation area) and then you could over look sa y a little fernary with some table and chairs that would be coming of your lounge room. By having only a couple of round windows it would give you a larger wall to perhaps hang some decorative pieces from with out interupting your view whil preparing dinner, uninterupted in your little neck of the woods.... Damn, how I would love that.... You will love it! 300mm is plenty for the shelving, I have that now and will also have that size in our new house. 800mm will be fine for the walking area.
Have you thought about putting in a small window? You'd lose some shelving on that external wall but it might be a good idea for ventilation etc. Re: WOULD THIS PANTRY BE TOO CRAMPED? 31May 14, 2008 8:57 pm Keep the pantry! Raz Raz - no display home info as we are building a custom home with a small builder. The reason for the microwave going in is that I will only be having a four metre island bench then a 4ish metre wall containing two fridges plus 110cm cooker (along with the usual bench space on either side) but I don't want to have any clutter on the benchtops - other then the coffee machine so microwave will be hidden away. We are still deciding whether to have a secret door from the home theatre room straight into the pantry as well. I am so in love with the idea of having the pantry ( even tho its just a drawing on paper now) that I just couldnt accept it when SC said do you really want it. 300 is good for the shelves. Thnking of a window like a laundry window. Thanks for your post Raz If you think you can, you can. Re: WOULD THIS PANTRY BE TOO CRAMPED? 34May 15, 2008 8:27 pm Kyton,
2 four metre benches .... wow this is also some kitchen. Love your floor plans. All rooms have ensuites- just fantastic!!!! and your storage ideas are great. Ensuites in every room is the royal standard as far as I am concerned Yes a secret door to the pantry ...what fun... !!!! Thanks for posting your plans. I enjoyed viewing them. I love the way you wrote about creating that space off the lounge. I had such a clear mental picture of it. I love huge glassed off areas too... but $$$$. Thanks for your suggestions. I dreaming of a private area with fernery!!!!!! Raz If you think you can, you can. You could have some nice aluminium french doors (we paid through our builder $750) off your lounge room leading out to the fern space and a large cirular glass window looking out from the preperation area in the WIP..... Best of both worlds.... Am looking closely at windows to see what I can do. Circular window for the pantry sounds really good. As you said Best of both worlds...... would like to have this always!! Raz If you think you can, you can. Re: WOULD THIS PANTRY BE TOO CRAMPED? 38May 17, 2008 12:14 pm Something like this would be great.... I know they are in Spain though.. bummer looking for something a little closer for you though. ..

actually, when people come to our place, they say its a little like a 7/11. It's so huge 5x2.5m. It's like an extra room! But we love it .... and every1 that visits loves it! Re: WOULD THIS PANTRY BE TOO CRAMPED? 40Jun 02, 2008 11:26 am I dream of having a walk in pantry, unfortunately not enough room in our kitchen area to swing a cat, let alone have the walk in!!!
