Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Nov 24, 2013 10:04 am I have this old kitchen tap that is annoying me so badly. I would like to get it replaced but have no idea what to replace it with. My best guess is that it is around 45 years old; was thinking of a kitchen mixer but it wont be in the middle of the sink. Anyone have any examples of what I could replace this with? Want to have some ideas before I call the plumber to discuss it. I can't see how big it is though. New mixer etc. Would look good. Otherwise just a new spout and taps. If you are as old as the taps ( ), you might like 1/4 turn ceramic - we did and they are great for younger and older folk. Bunnings are good for taps these days, and you can return them if they don't fit. A benefit of ceramic is that it does not use the old seat. Apart from the kitchen, next time I will use all 1/4 turn ceramic taps. They are noisier though and don't last as long as you can't change the washers/cartridge. My 1/4 turns don't make a sound other than the flow of water (or maybe I am losing my hearing too)... most have been in about 7 years. I think its a common trait, but not that bad as there is noise from water splashing anyway Re: Old kitchen tap 9Nov 27, 2013 1:00 pm JB1 The better mixers use ceramic cartridges, cheap ones are plastic. Not overly noisy, but I could hear it. "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy. Just check the tap hole size and the space behind the sink to make sure it can fit a mixer tap. Most mixer taps need a 35mm hole but some can fit in a smaller hole like this one: http://www.quoss.com.au/gooseneck.html For soap dispensers maybe something like this: http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/00174241/ that will depend on the kitchen bench depth. you'll have to specify it so it allows for both the tap and the sink 1 7394 Brass or 2) Stainless steel made - which Kitchen tap is good for drinking.Brass kitchen taps in Australia contain lead… 0 6736 7 5139 |
