Fisher & Paykel is great. We have the f&p integrated (2 drawers) at work installed sept last year.. Broke down quite a few times already compared with our previous one (1× full drawer) and never had an issued with it and that was installed in 2007. My opinion I would stay away from the integrated ones very fussy as well prone to leaks which was one of our nain issue. Of 2 people who I know who own them, 2 have broken down. One of them just can't be bothered fixing it as it keeps having the same issue. Re: Dishwasher Suggestions. 44Jan 22, 2014 7:21 pm I'll be looking for suggestions for when we get closer with our build, but one thing I've noticed is that they all appear to only connect up to a cold water tap. This to me is crazy, as you pay to get the dishwasher to heat up that cold water to wash them. As we'll have solar with gas boosting, I will have plenty of hot water to play with that isn't costing me anything to heat it, yet have to heat up cold water to wash the dishes. Anyone seen dishwashers that you can hook up to the hot water tap ? Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. No point connecting to hot tap; most now wash with 12L for a full wash, so by the time you get hot water from the heater to the washer, it's filled with mainly cold water, which has to be heated up, and you have hot water wasting in your tap. They use so little water it's more economical heating what little they need. The hot water storage tank and gas booster are only going to be a matter of a couple of metres away from where the dishwasher is going to be anyway, so it should still get about 8-10 litres of hot water if that's the case, and it won't take long to heat it up to the cleaning temperature. But 12l for a full wash, that's just over a standard bucket of water for a wash, which is probably close to a full sink of water without the elbow grease involved ! They are certainly economical these days, particulary if you consider in sink washing might happen more than once per day. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. Re: Dishwasher Suggestions. 48Jan 26, 2014 10:30 pm JB1 It won't get 8-10L of water because the 12L is spread over 3 - 4 cycles Didn't think of that at the time.... pumps a bit of water in, does a cycle, water in line from hotwater might start to get warm on the 2nd or 3rd cycle. Re: Dishwasher Suggestions. 49Jan 29, 2014 10:03 pm Nope, more like 3-4 litres cold water prewash (5-10 minutes), 3-4 litres hot mainwash for 40-60 minutes, then 1-2 cold water rinses after that. So the water from the hot tap will be cold each time, and you have the same amount cooling in your pipes each time, not very energy efficient. Re: Dishwasher Suggestions. 50Jan 29, 2014 10:32 pm Yep, see what you mean, although when the hot water isn't costing me anything (evac tubes, gas boosted only when the storage tank is cold/cool), it probably won't hurt would it ? The first 3-4 litres would bring in some hot water, then 10 minutes later even though the hot water in the pipes may have cooled a bit, the water would still be more than 35+ degrees warm so wouldn't have to heat it up as much as 20-25 degree water out of the cold tap. Over a year, that should save on electricity surely ? Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. Blog : http://bandlnewhomebuild.blogspot.com H1 thread : viewtopic.php?f=38&t=68283 .
