Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 10, 2013 9:50 pm I'm looking at getting a squareform diamond gloss benchtop in white valencia. The only downfall is apparently the corners have to be cut on an angle and edged separately as the laminex cannot be moulded around the corner. I really desire a square look but hesitant to go for the square edge due it been prone to chipping. Has anyone got any ideas on how to have the best of both worlds? Maybe squareform on long sides and square edge on short sides so corner doesn't have to be angled? Re: Help needed for Kitchen Benchtop 2Sep 10, 2013 10:51 pm Just so you are aware, you cant actually squareform (6mm radius postform) diamond gloss. Diamond gloss benchtops are square edged using an acrylic edging that is buffed to a high gloss that matches the laminate. It's 2mm thick so has a very small radius pencil round on the edges. The same edging is used all the way around so there is no need to cut the corners as some do with squareform tops (very old school in my opinion). If you are going to go with a less tight (10mm) post formed top then I would recommend doing as you mentioned with the short ends cut square and laminated. It looks quite ok and is much better than the old 90's look angled corners. I have seen laminates rolled on a 6mm radius that have cracked two years later. I guess Laminex doesn't recommend Diamond Gloss for square forming for a reason.
