Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 05, 2013 9:15 pm Hi, According to my tender I suppose to have "Bulkheads to overhead cupboards" in my kitchen. But the picture I have taken today showing that there is a significant gap between the cupboards and the ceilings. We have a PCI date booked for 13th September. I have already sent an email to builder regarding this issue today and awaiting for feedback. I am bit anxious about this issue so near to my PCI date and just want to know: Is this normal for Bulkheads to overhead cupboards built like this way or they definitely made a mistake? What is our right about this issue? Should we proceed for PCI if this issue not been rectified by builder between this time? http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/405/sb8a.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/13/rymi.jpg/ Re: Regarding Bulkheads to overhead cupboards 2Sep 05, 2013 9:21 pm You mean because the bulkheads are not flush with the face of the cabinetry? Is it specified as such in the plans and elevations? Because if it's specified this way then you don't have any way to argue it I don't think. I have seen this many times in disply homes, more often the bulkhead sits further out than the cabinets, and I don't like the look. I prefer them to be flush with the cabinets also. But I am not sure why it doesn't seem to be done often. Perhaps it's difficult to achieve if the bulkhead is done way before the kitchen cabinetry?? Not sure but I'd be interested in expert answers also... Our drawings show we have a shadowline so the bulkhead just overhangs the cupboards from what I can see. May be worthwhile uploading a picture of the drawings. Re: Regarding Bulkheads to overhead cupboards 4Sep 06, 2013 1:25 am Are you referring to the set back of the bulkhead from the cupboard? And I have moved this to the Kitchen Corner for you. Re: Regarding Bulkheads to overhead cupboards 5Sep 06, 2013 8:08 am Can you be more specific as to what you are worried about? Your picture shows a standard kitchen that most builders put in. Sure the overheads could be higher which would make the bulkhead shorter. There are a number of different ways of building bulkheads and they can still be easily built in your kitchen.
