Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Aug 15, 2013 9:55 pm we are going to buy a dishwasher for our new house and currently reading reviews, apparently not all dishwashers have a delicate glassware program and a short run program. Ideally I'd like it to be quiet, wash fast and have short run and delicate options, not too expensive . any suggestions? Thank you Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60755 Re: Recommend a dishwasher please 2Aug 15, 2013 10:48 pm We have a new Westinghouse dishwasher that came with the house. We have been in a month and I have been really happy with it. Washes really well and is quiet. Good value for money as I checked out the price and under $700. The cycles are a little long, but I haven't checked out all cycles yet, so I am sure there is a fast setting Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: Recommend a dishwasher please 3Aug 15, 2013 10:52 pm We just bought an ASKO as we heard they are really good. No review yet as not in..... A little over our original budget but love how slimline it is and soooooo quiet (apparently). Re: Recommend a dishwasher please 4Aug 15, 2013 10:56 pm Don't know how good it is. But this> http://www.kambos.com.au/shop/product/stainless_steel_dishwasher/3413 is mighty cheap. Re: Recommend a dishwasher please 5Aug 16, 2013 1:52 am Miele and Asko are both pretty good, I know Miele is changing some of their dishwashers and many of their old models are on special. You can get a basic Miele white model for $799 which is a very good price for a Miele dishwasher. Re: Recommend a dishwasher please 6Aug 16, 2013 8:27 am I have just renovated my kitchen and brought the AEG dishwasher. It is fantastic. Has a choice of 2 short washes, one 36 mins and the 52 mins plus all the other settings. We tend to use the 36 mins for everything and it washes beautifully. My glasses always come out sparkling and it is super quiet. It is one of the lowest usage of water per wash which is quite important. It is larger inside than most dishwashers. Harvey Norman has the same model for about $1000 at the moment. But you'd be able to find it cheaper elsewhere I'd imagine. Very quiet, lots of wash programs and the dishes come out sparkling. Hubby's work has an Asko and he says it is amazing, runs multiple times a day every day and never fails. And that isn't even a commercial grade one! I've got a Bosch, it has a quick wash, rinse, and various more intense washes. It's very silent and dishes are always clean. I use a cheapo dishwashing powder and they still come out mostly dry, just some pooling of water in the sunken parts of the bottoms of cups etc. If you use those fancier dishwasher tablets or fancy rinse aid, I hear they come out beautifully dry. The Bosch I have is the one with 14 place settings. There's the smallest model that's a bit of a cheapo version made in Turkey rather than Germany, probably wiser to invest in the true German models. I went to goodguys today and had a look at 14 and 15 place bosch dishwashers, they are well made and look quite solid and finished = makes an impression of reliability. The cheaper one had all buttons on the face and the 15 place (with a cutlery tray on top) had all the buttons on the top side of the lid. I just though what if I'd like to pause it.. and there are no buttons outside until I open the lid ? Re: Recommend a dishwasher please 13Aug 18, 2013 11:42 am We have a Bosch, very happy with it. TABLETS - Warning Saw the super deals online for Finish Dishwashing tablets so bought up to keep us going for ages. Not a good choice, they don't dissolve - we need to manually break them up before putting into holder. They are an imported product. From my research Fairy Tablets are recommended but a bit more expensive than the others. Got a life, just can't find it! With regards to the tablets, I haven't brought the online ones, but have brought the ones available in the bulk packets that are around at the moment and haven't had any problems whatsoever. I don't think they are imported ones though. I would suggest taking a few plates and things with you. My sister-in-law's diswasher, which she swore was one of the best on the market and looked down her nose at my LG, does not fit her plates in it. She has to stack the plates on an angle and can only fit 4 -6 plates in there. I would look at where the water is sprayed into the dishwasher, many only spray from one or two places. I have water coming in from the top, the middle (which sprays up and down) and then the bottom. This means that all dishes have water coming from above and below. I think they're better than the more expensive ones! Regarding dishwashers we currently have an old Simpson model. Probably 8 years old? Haven't had any issues with it. Same thing for F&P dish drawers. They recommend to put the tablet in the cutlery holder (bottom of the unit) and it dissolves from there - no problems so far. ----------------------------------------------- http://pab34newdigs.blogspot.com.au/ ----------------------------------------------- Re: Recommend a dishwasher please 20Aug 24, 2013 10:38 pm I would love a miele but the one with 3d cutlery tray is out of my price range.
