Wow, that really looks like stone!
We have run out of budget for stone bench tops, still hoping to find the money somewhere, but that looks great!
Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: Diamondgloss vs Squareform 22May 09, 2008 12:25 pm We have upgraded to Diamond Gloss on advice from our consultant when we were doing our colour selections etc. She said that the regular laminate would scratch really easily and it would quite possibly be scratched before we even moved in! It was only $400 extra. We did a scratch test on the sample piece that she had...I scratched it as hard as I could with my car keys and didn,t make a mark...hubby then did the same (he looked like a madman hacking away at it! ) lol...there were a few tiny scratches, but we had to hold the sample in just the right position to see anything...we couldn ,t believe how tuff it was!

Thank for your feedback. Something was wrong with my RSS program and I didn't see any of your replies till today ... funny, it was only this thread that was missing Anyway, we had our colour selection in the meantime, and we selected Diamondgloss ... from all your feedback, I think we made the right choice I'm a bit worried about the edge though. I specifically asked our colour consultant whether we can have squareform type edges with Diamondgloss and she sais yes; she said it's called a D-mould edge, and that's the wording on our colour selection sheet; the tender says 20mm Diamondgloss edging ... does anyone know what these mean? Re: Diamondgloss vs Squareform 24May 09, 2008 1:39 pm Thought I'll get it straight from the horse's mouth, so I called Laminex.
According to them, the diamondgloss can only be rolled at a minimum of 8mm radius; to get a square edge with diamondgloss we have to use Diamondgloss edging, which is a strip of PVC that sits between the vertical and horizontal layers of laminate (similar to the picture on Southies post); the PVC needs to be buffed to match the laminate. Has anyone actually used diamondgloss edging? ... is there any possibility of water leaking in between the PVC stripe and the laminate? |
