Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jul 30, 2013 8:47 pm We used Impala to get a new kitchen. This is our experience. Kitchen = excellent quality. HOWEVER.... 1) They promised us they could incorporate changes to our window to accommodate the kitchen worktop. Result - window could not be changed and worktop has been built up to the window so you can see the back of the cupboard through the window. 2) They drilled holes in the wrong place in the floor. Then they broke our floorboards. Then they screwed a piece of wood onto the floor to cover the missing floorboards. The wood was about 2cm higher than the floor and fixed into place = A fixed 2cm tripping hazard in the main walkway in our house. They took 9 days to remove this. Luckily none of us were hurt falling over it (my wife is 8 months pregnant). Over 2 weeks later they still haven't finished fixing the floor. 3) They cut a hole in the asbestos in our wall and left the asbestos and the asbestos dust on the floor in our dining room. 4) They glued two pieces of CStone together to make it 40mm and so now you can see a line all the way along our benchtops 5) They connected the sink but left it so that it leaked all over our floor. 6) One the check sheet they ticked for cornice but then when it came down to it they didn't do the cornice. They wanted $1000 to do what our regular builder said would be $300 of cornice. As I said the kitchen is excellent but I would NEVER, EVER go with them again. I would prefer to cook on a camp fire and catch my own food than have them put a kitchen in. They were EXTREMELY unreliable and INCREDIBLY unprofessional. Does anyone else have similar or different experiences with Impala? Re: Has anyone used Impala? We were very unhappy. 2Jul 30, 2013 9:03 pm Haven't they ceased trading? I think you have experienced what the typical customer has from the average large kitchen retailer, where the person who quotes you is a different department from those who install it. I hope you haven't paid them in full. Re: Has anyone used Impala? Sorry to hear about your bad experience. This is how 40mm CS is usually done. You can pay extra and have it mitred but most people just have it doubled up. The problem is most companies don't actually tell the client how it is made and then its a surprise when they first see it!
