My postformer doesn't charge any extra for Duropal. So what would you choose ? Quality is equal therefore it would really depend on the colour / texture / pattern you are after. Laminex vs. Duropal 5Oct 01, 2006 2:14 pm Hi everyone
If it's any help, my understanding is that Laminex have done a lot of work to produce materials that are low emissions - that is, that are less likely to slowly poison your family! (see their Greenfirst range). I have no idea about Duropal on this score. All else being equal, Laminex's products are (always, mostly?, not sure!) made in Australia, so the amount of precious oil that it takes for them to end up in your kitchen is way less. Surely that can only be a good thing? I have already found http://www.ecospecifier.org to be a goldmine of information about products in Australia. As soon as we have picked our builder, we'll be signing up for access to the full database. Hope your kitchens are places of good health and harmony. Elizabeth Re: Laminex vs. Duropal 6Oct 25, 2006 8:30 pm hi all, Duropal being European meets or exceeds ezero (E0) which is the lowest emission standard in existance at this time.
Laminex as I understand it does not yet meet ezero as it is not yet a requirement for OZ. Hooray for zero emissions 7Oct 26, 2006 9:11 am Hi Designmarc
That's very interesting! I know nothing about European standards ... is the E0 the standard for all aspects of domestic building in Europe??? If only some, which elements? I'd usually go for local products with acceptably low levels of VOC emissions rather than products imported from Europe, but it's great to know what's already been shown to be achievable elsewhere. Thanks e. Re: Laminex vs. Duropal 8Oct 26, 2006 1:22 pm Hi e, relates to all construction board materials such as MDF , craftwood etc.
As I understand it, it will become the standard in oz also but legislation for requirement will probably not happen until 2008. |
