Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jun 30, 2013 8:38 am I've only come across a few photos of kitchens with different coloured top cabinets. It seems as though you would use a lighter colour with these, and a darker colour for the bottom cabinets? Do you think you'd have to use the same pattern for the cabinets? I'm looking at stipple seal and avenue in the laminex range and while they are both 'solid' colours, avenue has a slightly different look. Does any one have any photos to share or have any opinions? Cheers Re: Different coloured overhead cabinets? 2Jun 30, 2013 11:18 am Don't have any pics myself, but this is very common in melbourne displays. We have used silver in most areas but have used white for overheads above the bench top and desk. ----------------------------------------------- http://pab34newdigs.blogspot.com.au/ ----------------------------------------------- Re: Different coloured overhead cabinets? 4Jul 01, 2013 7:32 pm We have polytec licorice linea for our bottom cabinets and polytec malt for the top cupboards http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s112/paris-stella/7769B30B-CD17-4B59-A360-EDCBB52B5994-728-00000027EE9D5FF2_zpsb5acb76c.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s112/paris-stella/0BFD0895-6BBE-4CC7-851C-689FD5AE8FA0-2466-0000009057F8D687_zps18d9af1c.jpg Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: Different coloured overhead cabinets? 5Jul 01, 2013 11:01 pm We've got blackbrown/patterned lower cabinets and white gloss overheads ( we installed overheads after moving in) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The road to success is always under construction House completed April 2011 - slowly making it a home... Cheers Don't think there are any hard and fast rules about light top, dark lower. In my kitchen I did the opposite. A a matt wood grain on the uppers and oven tower and fridge sides with white gloss on the lower cabinets and drawers. Looks pretty good. No pics any more unfortunately. Re: Different coloured overhead cabinets? 9Jul 06, 2013 6:50 pm wanttorenovate, I have seen it done both ways in terms of light and dark cabinets. It just depends on the look you are after. I also don't think you need the same pattern at all- that is the beauty of having feature cabinets. I really think anything goes- again, just depending on the look you are after. Definitely check out the PD website for inspiration! Our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64705 Re: Different coloured overhead cabinets? 10Oct 12, 2013 4:45 pm Suey Jen, your colours looka great!! In thinking of doing the exaxt same thing, licorice linea for lower cabinet and white gloss for overheads but wasnt sure what it would look like! Thks!!! We're also doing parchment crystal gloss for top cupboards (no handles) and licorice linea in natural finish for bottom. Looks awesome! Re: Different coloured overhead cabinets? 11Oct 12, 2013 6:17 pm http://vic.homebuyers.com.au/display-home/monarch-26 - check out the kitchen pic, it has light on bottom and dark on top Re: Different coloured overhead cabinets? 12Oct 29, 2013 11:33 pm Quite often it's the reverse, plain white below (which is usually out of sight because it's behind an island) and a wood grain look or pop of colour up top. Mine will be white above and below, mainly because they will get touched a lot (electric opening) and I feel the painted finish will wear better than the wood veneer... so I've colour blocked instead (full height veneer cabinets to side, adjoining white drawers/overheads). As far as only coming across a few with different coloured top cabinets, I've seen plenty. As it's set back in depth from any adjoining cabinetry, you have the opportunity to treat it separately to surrounding cabinetry. I really like designs that use the overheads as a feature. For me it would have to be a vast difference to the base colour to be a feature though, not similar. Hi, Can anyone give me approx. price for overhead cupboards. TIA 0 16616 Bigger the better for storage for me IMO. But I guess it's harder to tell the cost/benefit in your example - mainly the 'cost'? If you go 700mm, what are you doing extra… 2 1399 You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want. Cabinetmakers use MDF because its cheap… 2 9970 |
