Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jun 28, 2013 2:04 pm Hi, We are about to start building with Carlisle Homes in Melbourne North and are pretty confused about what to do with our microwave. We are looking to install something like this microwave after handover http://www.bosch-home.com.au/appliances ... M653A.html The dimentions mentioned in this site for the required niche is 450 x 560 x 550 mm , but the builder says he can't promise of this exact size(he says he can't make a customize the tower for me), and according to him the width of the tower where I am going to install this would be around 700mm approximately , meaning I will have more space than this could cover. Here is the photo of the kitchen tower from the display house(next to the fridge space there) to give you a rough idea of how its going to look like. At this stage this is the only microwave we liked , but our main motto is to definitely have something with build in look and not sure how to work it out with builder. All he says is all microwaves are of approximately same size so you can fit in anything with a decent trim kit here. But we are not too sure if even with trim kit we will be successful in covering upto 700mm of width. Usually in such situations how easy it is to put in something like laminate in fills to cover up that space incase if its too big length or width wise? How easy/costly it is to get done post handover? What a load of crap!!! The sizes that really matter are the external sizes of 454 x 595 x 563 mm! 98% of all wall oven/tower cabinets are 600mm wide externally. This size suits every 600mm wide oven and microwave and would also suit your microwave. It is rare but sometime people put 700mm wide ovens into towers. This should be the only reason the tower is more than 600mm wide. If I were you I would find out the external width of your oven. If it is 596-600mm then it should be put into a 600mm tower and then you microwave will fit perfectly in width. They cabinet maker will have to cut the towers top doors to suit the height of your microwave but this isn't hard at all! What is the external width of your oven?? The width of the oven is 595 ( so altogether it can only cover that space when built into the tower) and the cabinet maker says the tower would atleast be about 650Mm space, and not sure about the height of the shelf yet. drawings yet to be done. So what do you think we could do to cover that extra 55mm space? My concern is if the width or height of the shelf is more than what the oven's fascia can cover then we might be left with ugly looking gaps around the oven in the cabinet , if you know what I mean? Could we request them to put in some laminate infills? Or in worst case if they said they can't do it, whats the best/cost effective way to fix this post handover? Perfect. 595mm wide oven with a 595wide microwave above in a 600mm wide externall(567mm internally) cabinet is how it should be built. The cabinet maker is smoking weed saying it should go into a 650mm space. It is just totally wrong. It really annoys me when tradies give their customers totally wrong advice. There is no need for laminate fillers the cabinet maker should build it correctly. Please see the picture below, it has an oven and microwave exactly the same size as yours in a 600mm cabinet and works perfectly. Do it any other way and it will look like mistakes have been made! http://i794.photobucket.com/albums/yy230/VTSS350/DSC_0295DesktopResolution_zpsaa05fe41.jpg Cutting Edge Kitchens and Cabinet Making http://cuttingedgekitchens.net.au http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cutting-Edge-Kitchens/290484196676 Mobile : 0419 430 575 PH: 9452 4772 Fax :9452 4772 cuttingedgekitchens@outlook.com Dear Members I have to decide the Facade column size. Dunno how to delete this post, can't find any help file. Cheers. 1 3664 Current door width is approx 2700, looking to have double doors fitted 820-820. What size does the frame need to be before door jamb? Thanks 0 3548 |
