We want to put our bin in a draw but I am worried about the smell.
Are there ways to combat this, or is the smell not too bad?
Thanks
Sandra

We have had no issues with smell and it worked really well as the kids couldn't get into the bin. ![]() 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: Rubbish bin in draw = smelly? 3Apr 28, 2008 8:58 pm The house I am currently in has a bin cupboard. There hasn't been a problem with smells. But then I take anything smelly outside to the big wheelie bin straight away. Thanks for that. I did read the other rubbish bin thread and I saw one in there that I like and I will be getting hubby to make the frames and putting some plastic bins in. I stuffed up the kitchen I ordered and got 2x300 wide cupboards (why didnt I just get 1x600 ... duh) but it worked out great, now I can have a recyling and rubbish draw. Sandra LOL we have the same problem with width! The cabinet we want to use is only 310 wide and all the ready made bins are 325 or 350 wide!!! grrrrrrrrrr What solution did you come up with if you dont mind sharing please? Sandra We're all here to make the building/renovating/DIY more fun...and if there's a double entendre...we'll jump on it... ![]() ![]() With regards to making your own - one thing about the "off the shelf" ones is that there quite a small gap between the top of the bin and the frame cover (the plastic panel on the photo I posted). So once you put the bin liner in which bunches a little it almost self seals....maybe a visit to the big B to pinch some ideas may be in order.... ![]() mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Rubbish bin in draw = smelly? 13Apr 29, 2008 10:32 pm Thanks... I dont really want one with the lid on it. So IF we decide to get one from the big B I might rip the lid off it.
I explained to hubby what I wanted and he said he will do this and this... (I was like ![]() I think what he said was something like he will make the draw outside bit (yes, that is a real technical term) /carcass like a regular draw to fit the size we need, then instead of the base of the draw to keep it stable we will use the plastic bin perhaps with some style of hook/clip on the side to hold it to the sides. Does that make sense? I will ask him for more details later. Then all we have to do is find a plastic bin that fits... THAT might be the real problem. sandra Re: Rubbish bin in draw = smelly? 14May 01, 2008 12:35 am I found my solution!

My mother installed a "Kitchen King" (kiwi brand) underbench drawer bin in her kitchen, and it comes with a "perfume-sealed" lid. But the bins are emptied regularly enough that they don't smell.
