Some other alternatives - caveat emptor as I've never used any of them. http://www.easyplanner3d.com/ http://www.mitre10.com.au/Kitchens/Plan ... r-Kitchen/ http://www.homestyler.com/ http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_AU/campaigns/ ... anner.html I've used TurboFloorPlan 3d for all my designing/rendering. Not free but well worth the $90 (sometimes down to $65-70 when on sale). Regards RiH Re: programs 3Jun 07, 2013 5:51 am Thank you so much RiH!! Stewie Re: programs 5Jun 07, 2013 4:55 pm Be careful I downloaded one and my computer got a virus. Nearly lost everything. Not positive it was that but very coincidental. Please let me know which, if any, you use and if it is any good. Battling with the layout for my new kitchen (and colours) Re: programs 6Jun 07, 2013 5:57 pm Thanks Stewie, I've down loaded http://www.sweethome3d.com/index.jsp Successfully, no problems. I was basically asking for my cousin she is redesigning her kitchen. I have a program already but it cost me $200, they only want it long enough to do their kitchen hence a free one. I'm happy to play with them though.....will be checking the other ones out also. Thanks everyone. Get a rendering plugin (I use mazwell render) and learn to make stuff like this.... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Mind you, it took me a few months to learn sketchup well enough to create this kitchen. LOTS of messing around with material properties in maxwell render to get the reflections right. Only objects I didn't draw myself were the oven, couch and rug. (ignore the fact I forgot to add the sink to the island bench please! Re: programs 9Jul 06, 2013 12:02 am Stewie D That's Maxwell Render Matymoo and yes it is a pretty good renderer. It can act as a plugin for a lot of CAD and modelling programs. Stewie Typo... I did get it right once in my post I would highly reccomend sketchup. After a few youtube tutorials, you should easily be able to draw up a kitchen in 3D. Draw a floor area first, then add fixed walls, create 3D models of standard cabinets and then move them around to see what fits best. I have a folder on my computer with standard size cabinets I created so I can easily choose. Next step if you want is rendering. I have not checked laminex / formica websites, but dulux and colorbond provide material plug-ins for sketchup, making colour selections very easy too. Sketchup may not be a professional CAD program, but then, most people on these forums, like me, are not professional draftsmen / engineers / interior designers. Re: programs 10Jul 08, 2013 8:29 am It may not be regarded as a true Pro CAD program by a lot of professions that you mention in the same light as say Autocad or Archicad but I have seen a couple of houses drawn by an architect using SU Pro with a walk-through animation that was very impressive. I can usually tell a Sketchup perspective drawing because it has a certain sketched look and default colours but when you render it with Maxwell or another capable renderer it takes it to another level. The other thing I like about SU is that with Google warehouse ( or is that SU warehouse ? ) you can download for free thousands of pre-made 3D objects - sofas, pendant lights, tables etc that you can use in your drawings.
