I wrote a post that I thought was funny. You told me you were offended so I apologized. Now you are being rude and nasty to me. I am probably old enough to be your grandmother so I hope you treat your own gran with a bit more respect than you directed at me in your last post. I think it was meant as a joke. My DH fills the bin to capacity with empty beer bottles and so I had a little chuckle at that as our recycling bin is filled quite quickly. Or do you just use the bin to dispose of your empty stubbies like my old man? That's borderline offensive and if you could please refrain from being so facetious on my thread that would be great. hm, got out of bed the wrong side? She made a joke. At the moment we are house-sitting. The bin is at the bottom of the sink cabinet. I have to open the door, bend down and pull out the bin. The most stupid idea I ever came across. In a normal household the bin is used constantly, everything is wrapped. I imagine making some chicken soup. My idea of practicality is, open a door just under the bench with the bin sliding out, which is attached to the door. How much easier can life be? Re: Where can I buy Hafele pull out bins?? 26May 13, 2013 11:35 am CuttingEdgeKitchens leni (But personally not a good solution IMo as the whole point of a pull out bin is one action to get to the bin!) I actually disagree. I hate the all in one bins that have the door attach. Think about the weight on bin runners when the bin is fully loaded and a door attached to the front! The problem with this type is when fully loaded the door can sag a little and the door gaps change. I actually prefer to open a door and then slide the bin out. The bin will work so much longer without issues! well, since you are talking of weight. As I said above we are house-sitting. The kitchen has one of these pull-out pantry cabinets, don't know how you call them. People love them and they are the most stupid invention in any kitchen. In my case the door is 185cm high, the cabinet is 40cm wide. To that door are 6 pull-outs attached. Every time I have to open the door I struggle because of the weight and that the whole thing will come apart. We held a water level at the door. The door is bent already, the top of the door bents 2-2.5cm out. The pullouts can't be pulled out completely, about 7cm stays in the cabinet. To get to the items at the far end I have to take out one or two items in front of it. A bin doesn't have to be huge and can be emptied. Plus the door is small in comparison. Re: Where can I buy Hafele pull out bins?? 27Aug 27, 2013 8:42 am I am really interested in your experience with those type of cupboards, Evelin - we've been looking at those for an awkward space in the kitchen but haven't spoken to anyone who has actually used them. Today is under construction. Thank you for understanding. Re: Where can I buy Hafele pull out bins?? 29Aug 28, 2013 6:22 pm Totally agree Evelin, the pull out pantry's are the worst mechanisms invented! The always end up overloaded and never close properly! Re: Where can I buy Hafele pull out bins?? 31Sep 01, 2013 11:21 am ashilleong The pull out pantry - something like this http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/categ ... hen/12315/ but what you are saying aout the weight sounds logical A pullout pantry is something like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/like/181059088580?lpid=87, or the Depensa from Häfele http://www.hafele.com.au/HafeleHome/pro ... -pantries/ where you have to pull out in principal the whole inside of the cabinet. Depending on the height and width, they can become very heavy. After some time they won't pullout fully because often those cabnets are overloaded and the mechanism suffers. People think they are great because they have access from two sides. The downside is that a) you have to leave a larger gap between each level to get something out b) if something spills it's an ugly mess and c) why would you want to pullout 50kg of weight just to get to some peanuts? The IKEA cabinet in my view are the best option for storage of provisions. You can have each level as close together as you like, meaning you have more storage space and each drawer is not so heavy. The downside of these type of cabinets is that you have to open a door first. To me that is nothing compare to pull out 50kg or so weight every time I want something from a pullout cabinet. I cook everynight !!! I also have two kids that like to overload the bin. I am just giving you my experience from 20 years of building kitchens and you are giving me your experience of 2 bins . I have seen just about every sort of bin available. All I am doing is giving you my experiences there is no need to be rude. Most peoples eyes don't even notice them sagging but they eventually do!!! I have two twin bins set up one on top of the other behind an opening door. It is setup just to the left of where I put the chopping board. When I am ready to cut up I open the door and then open the top bin. It sits open and I am able to slide straight off the cutting board into the bin. I don't have to worry about the weight of a door hanging off the bin affecting its life or the gaps on the doors. Its totally up to the people who read my posts whether they want to take my advice or not. But atleast it has come from years and years of experience!!! Yeah, I sat there googling what "Gavins" was?! Do you have a link to the bin you bought from there? Black on light wood does look good. Not sure if it will be as long lasting as a steel finish? 6 6618 Looking at some of the designs on websites, they are all selling very similar products. I get that you want something stylish. It's worth looking for search terms like SaveH2O… 2 7145 4 14660 |
