Re: Porter Davis kitchens 2Oct 02, 2011 8:25 pm Hi There, I may as well be the first to reply considering we are building the same house We added a set of pot draws next to our oven as well as upgraded all of our bench tops to ceasar stone. We also put an extra power point on the side of our island bench... This was another forum users idea that I stole! Additional overhead cupbords - three either side of the rangehood One little issue that I'm having at the moment is that we wanted a rangehood with a glass canopy and were told this was something we needed to sort out at contract. We mentioned it at contract and our BC said that the glass one was already included in our colour selection. We signed our contract... a couple of days latter we decided to just check everything and discovered we have the standard metal rangehood listed in our contract after all that was two weeks ago and we are still waiting on our BC to get back to us after numerous emails... She even admitted to me that she had forgotten about it when I spoke to her on the phone... Off the top of my head: Crystal gloss cabinetry everywhere, including pantry (parchment) Additional overhead cupboards on hallway wall Convert 4 cupboards to 4 pot drawers on hallway wall Alifrost cupboards with polar white inserts on either side of rangehood 40mm stone to the kitchen island (cat 3 organic white) and 40mm stone to the kitchen bench and pantry (cat 3 mink) Softclose drawers everywhere Shadowline benches everywhere Standard fridge cavity 2 door cupboard above fridge Oversize kitchen island with cupboards to the rear, without handles. We reckon handles would look silly as you could see them from the front door... 900mm oven with fish burner grate Stainless steel flushmout kick plate for the bottom of the oven Steam oven option in lieu of butlers pantry option (cooktop, rangehood, sink) Exhaust fan in pantry (cos of the steam oven) No above bench melamine shelves in pantry, we'll do thicker floating shelves after handover to match the floor (dark bamboo) Dulux 'Bosco Blue' glass splash back to all kitchen bench walls, and up behind the range hood to the bulkhead, except for wraparounds DGPO on each wraparound Ducted vacuum sweeper panel In the pantry instead of main kitchen area Things we didn't do, that seem popular: The three pendant light thing over the kitchen island... We think the look will pass, and it can close the kitchen in a bit. Did downlights instead. Tap in fridge cavity for water / ice. Prefer clean lines on the fridge doors... No DGPO on kitchen island. The only possible location had it facing the family room, and it couldn't go on the other side (hidden) due to the drawers being there. More things on our blog Re: Porter Davis kitchens 4Oct 02, 2011 8:40 pm Our kitchen is polar white vinyl wrap (free upgrade because they stuffed it up but they were originally wanting to charge about $4k), we were going to have two tone but I think i'm much happier with this The benches are ice snow, which we also put in the pantry, worth the extra cost. The splashback is Dulux metallic paint neutral intrigue on starfire glass (also an upgrade which we did pay for LOL), the metallic paint gives it a different dimension. What I love about it is when I get sick of the colours i'll just change the accessories. The handles are also a standard. We took out the alifrost overhead cupboards, i'm not a fan. If you want a glass splashback don't forget that there are two different types of glass, the standard which will have a green tinge and the upgrade which will be clear and will give your true chosen splashback paint colour. I'm happy with the 2 small pot drawers and the large ones at the bottom, I know somebody on here changed to have only 2 large ones. We didn't change layout or anything, and the kitchen is very usable, the appliances so far have been great (3 months in), I love our stove/oven. One thing I didn't do which I should have is put in a power point at the pantry end of the bench We also didn't want a "deluxe" butlers pantry but we asked to keep the "included appliances", which they were not going to agree to, but we got them! My handy tip is that if you are getting shadow line bench tops you can change the colour from black which is standard. Personally I don't want black with the light colours I've chosen. Great thread bigbuild Thanks, we're really happy with the kitchen and the layout In regards to the dishwasher, at times it can be a bit noisy, but it cleans well, we just try and put it on when we're not going to notice it. I'm not sure if you delete it you'd get a credit because it might be one of their included "bonus" items and not actually an inclusion, theres a bit of a difference I think ( we found that out with floor tiles ). I think they will just match your kickboard colour to your kitchen, we have a uniform colour throughout so it would look weird with another colour. So yeah, check if you get a credit on the dishwasher before you say you don't want it, otherwise take it and see how you go. And the drainer on side of the undermount sink is not a standard inclusion, it cost $100, but I wanted it (and forgot the kickplate for the stove ) And just the other day I found a little storage drawer under the stove too, great for frypans My building thread : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36059 Paid initial deposit 24/7/10 Tender appointment 20/8/2010 Flooring and tile appointment 25/9/10 Colour and Electrical appointment 13/9/10 December site start delayed Site start (YAY!) 17/1/11 Slab pour 1/2/2011 Porter Davis kitchens 8Oct 02, 2011 9:57 pm Hey JLD, It's on display at the Sandpiper in Arndell, however we're not 100% sure which cupboards are in parchment. They use different colours on the bench cupboards compared to the island, but pretty confident it's parchment on the bench. I'll shoot you a PM later this week when we get home, we have the colour document for that house on file. Re: Porter Davis kitchens 9Oct 03, 2011 7:32 am The wife looked after the kitchen, but for the most part we left the layout the default. Upgraded Caesar Everywhere GPO in Island Bench (cupboard) GPO both ends of bench. Downlights overhead (I wanted pendants wife said no!) Deleted a series of pot drawers and replaced these with normal cupboards Everything else pretty standard. We got the 900m Oven/Stove and Dishwasher and that hose type sink mixer. Actually, Ill just post it all.. We would love vinyl wrap but we are going to quote both that and glass laminex due to budget! I am even considering leaving it as matte laminex but just have a gut feeling its the wrong decision. Kitchen being the heart of the home and all.. Building1 that looks awesome. I am torn between going for that look (almost exactly! even have that splashback colour written down -freakish- although think I was leaning toward Dulux 'Tranquil Retreat' a pale grey to match our matte grey Kitchenaid) and a more 'french country' sort of look. One thing I love about what you have done is drawers along that full side of the bench where the cooker is. We had left one cupboard on the left end but on seeing how great the full drawers look we will go with that. Anyone know the costs to upgrade between stone colours? Re: Porter Davis kitchens 11Oct 03, 2011 8:17 am One thing to note, you cannot get Metallic Paints for the splashback anymore, it appears they allowed this earlier, but we were told they were now removed as people have been having some problems with the actual colour and also something to do about the paint bubbling behind the stove. We are having this to all of our kitchen and I was also worried it was going to look to cream, but in a large piece it's really just off white or slightly warm white. mimi Re: Porter Davis kitchens 16Oct 04, 2011 4:53 pm building1 JLD Quote: Building1, Your kitchen is beautiful +1 Building1, do you have the Blanco dishwasher and what do you think? Re: Porter Davis kitchens 17Oct 05, 2011 3:19 pm I'm happy with the 2 small pot drawers and the large ones at the bottom, I know somebody on here changed to have only 2 large ones. Hi Building1, Firstly, your kitchen looks amazing and secondly that'll probably be me. I changed to all pot draws instead of two rows of 2 small draws and 1 pot draw. How are you finding having the two smaller draws. What do you put in them? I remember at the display the sales consultant said that I could put in my herbs and spices. Yeah maybe one draw would do for the herbs and spices. Then I grabbed a small tumble glass to see if I could fit that in and store my glasses in there and no way would it fit and so I decided to put in all pot draws, so they'd be deeper. I just needed the small draws to be just a little more deeper. Re: Porter Davis kitchens 19Oct 06, 2011 10:29 am Hi All, Thought I would throw my 2 cents in here on what we selected.. Whats included in the Style promo (900 appliances, alifrost cupboards etc) Added OH cupboards to the Kit Alcove Added OH Cupboard above fridge Fridge Cavity widened and hightened with water point Kit Island extended and widened for extra cupboard and breakfest bar Cupboards and C\S bench in But Pantry OH Cupboards: Sarsen Grey Vinyl Wrap gloss Base cupboards: Prestige Walnut (have reservations about wood grain finish as this will date) Ceaserstone throughout Ospey Glass splashback dulux "snuggle pie" 300x600 Porc tiles off white for sink splashback (on back wall and would have been weird with glass splashback) Extra power points on Kitchen benches and Island Microwave cavity in Island Bench (we prefer the MW hidden and not sitting on a bench) Cat 2 handles (the ones used in most PD displays) LEDs DL's throughout kitchen and pantry (3 on Island bench - tend to agree with Rups - pendant lights on the Island will date) Also Telephone point and data point in Kitchen Alcove (may never need data point but its there incase) Insinkerator under sink Thats all I can think off off the top of my head..
