Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 30, 2013 2:03 pm HI everyone First time poster. (Had to re-register as I forgot my password - LOL) We are building a new home with Masterton (Symphony Grande) - and as part of the process - I am upgrading the kitchen. I am aiming for a classic / Hamptons style. My dilema - like loads of people - is the "white" of the kitchen doors - SOOO many choices. The colour scheme I am dabbling with - is Taubmans Taupe on the walls and the floor tiles in a tone that match well the architraves and doors etc are Taubmans White Spirit. I have selected a bench top - (not 100% certain of this yet) - the builder uses Quantum Quartz - and I like "Sandy" colour (funny cos' that is my name - haha) We had a meeting with the kitchen guy yesterday - we are going a satin Poly - he suggested that I choose any dulux colour (taubmans or whatever) - but not TOO bright a white. A lot of the clolours he threw at us were fairly "creamy" - so now I am very confused. does anyone have any suggestions of a white that they have used that is fairly white - but not TOO stark?? Cheers - Sandy Building the "Symphony Grande" with Masterton Homes If I ever remember to update it - check out my blog http://fernadell.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Which white for our kitchen cupboards?? - any ideas? 2Apr 30, 2013 2:26 pm Dont worry about what the kitchen guy said. The "creamy" colours were done to death a few years ago so unless you really want it say no. Have you been to the hardware and got paint charts yet? You can also ge the small paint sample pots and paint up some card board once you start to get closer. With Dulux they say there are 3 popular white's......Hog Bristle, Antique White and Natural White. My views are the antique looks to creamy, hog looks to beige and the Natural white is perfect. I love the Natural White and have used it for my new kitchen. Have even used it for the white parts on outside of the house. Good Luck with your choice. Re: Which white for our kitchen cupboards?? - any ideas? 4May 01, 2013 1:15 pm why not try parchment? Its kind of right in the middle of white and antique white. I agree that antique white has too creamy a look (although still popular), Parchment has been one of the top sellers over the last few years, second to white. If I could describe it I would call it a "bone" white. hope this helps With 25 years kitchen experience and a passion for what I do, I have joined this forum to offer advice or at least my opinion on all things relevant to kitchens. I wanted a nice crisp white with no hint of cream. I knew it would work perfectly as I had seen it in another kitchen. It works perfectly with our subway tiled splashback and neither makes the other look creamy, they match in lovely...not stark at all and Dulux Vivid White works perfectly with Polar White Laminex too which we used. I would just make sure the white you use for your cupboards works well with any other whites that will be close by like splashback tiles, architraves or doors etc. Re: Which white for our kitchen cupboards?? - any ideas? 8May 02, 2013 11:10 am TashnStu77 I have used Dulux Vivid White for our kitchen and bathroom vanities. I have just checked out your blog - you have a very similiar style to me. I just love your home - you must be SO excited I am doing the brick style tiles as well in my kitchen - is yours a satin polyurethane? - as that is what my kitchen guy is currrently quoting on. The lights you have chosen are STUNNING!! What colour are your walls?? They look lovely In case you haven't found this site - check out the light that I intend to put in my front entryway - I think you will like it http://www.restorationonline.com.au/chr ... ass-panels Building the "Symphony Grande" with Masterton Homes If I ever remember to update it - check out my blog http://fernadell.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Which white for our kitchen cupboards?? - any ideas? 9May 03, 2013 3:06 pm TashnStu77 I have used Dulux Vivid White for our kitchen and bathroom vanities. Good tip about Polar white - as that is what we are using in laundry cupboards & ensuite - Cheers Sandy Building the "Symphony Grande" with Masterton Homes If I ever remember to update it - check out my blog http://fernadell.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Which white for our kitchen cupboards?? - any ideas? 10May 04, 2013 10:34 pm Yep I'm sucking eggs here haha. Don't be silly that's fine. Love your pendant it will be lovely. Your welcome to use our bench as inspiration as that is how I got it in the first place by using somebody else's so I'm passing it on I guess. The cabinets are satin polyurethane (2pac). Wall colour in the kitchen, dining and family is Dulux Spanish Olive and all other areas it is Dulux Tranquil Retreat. Hope it goes well for you. Re: Which white for our kitchen cupboards?? - any ideas? 11May 05, 2013 12:31 pm Thanks again Tash - I'm off to bunnings to look at whites again. It is really hard to get ideas from computers screens with colour - I could have sworn your walls had a beige undertone - but seeing as your house is the house of "grey & white" then I guess it's NOT beige LOL I will look forward to seeing pics when you have settled in and have it just the way you want it Building the "Symphony Grande" with Masterton Homes If I ever remember to update it - check out my blog http://fernadell.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Which white for our kitchen cupboards?? - any ideas? 12May 24, 2013 8:39 pm Hi, Have you decided which white yet? I'm having a similar dilemma... tossing up between polar white, white and parchment Re: Which white for our kitchen cupboards?? - any ideas? 13May 24, 2013 10:34 pm inglewood Hi, Have you decided which white yet? I'm having a similar dilemma... tossing up between polar white, white and parchment Hi Inglewood I have had a session with my sister-in-law who is an interior designer. She helped me with it - and based on the coloured tiles I am having as a splashback (plain white) and the "white spirit" for the doors and architraves - we decided that Dulux "white on white" is a better colour. we are having essastone "sandy" on the benchtops LOL Sandy Building the "Symphony Grande" with Masterton Homes If I ever remember to update it - check out my blog http://fernadell.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Which white for our kitchen cupboards?? - any ideas? 14May 25, 2013 7:35 pm sandyglenn23 inglewood Hi, Have you decided which white yet? Look forward to seeing pics as it comes together for you. Hi, Can anyone give me approx. price for overhead cupboards. TIA 0 16602 That's a bit of a vague question. Either cupboard size is fine. With no real advantage or disadvantage to either, apart from the fact that the 900 cabinet fits more into… 1 803 |
