Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 20, 2013 10:56 am I've been looking for a long time to find a nice kitchen style to suit a country setting. It seems the laminex modern kitchen with island benches is the norm and that is what we have in our new build... Has anyone got any ideas about making it feel a little more traditional or even just warm instead of feeling cold and modern? We have the essa stone bench tops but none of the colors appeal to me for the look I'm after. I love American kitchens ... The seem to have a very traditional style Any pictures or ideas would be much appreciated ! Re: Warm country kitchen styles ! Please help ! WA 2Apr 20, 2013 12:30 pm Warm country kitchen means timber and lots of it. Plenty of them available. WA 3Apr 20, 2013 12:34 pm if I already have a builder is it difficult or expensive to change it with wood?- do they already have specific companys they go through for the cabinet making? I havent come across many people that go with this option- except for custom builds- none of the display homes have it either! Re: Warm country kitchen styles ! Please help ! WA 4Apr 20, 2013 12:35 pm Hamptons style, traditional timber style etc. Google it or look on houzz in their kitchen section... http://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional/kitchen Filter other choices like modern, eclectic etc. Stewie Re: Warm country kitchen styles ! Are you building a spec home or with a smaller builder. Yes timber is very expensive and isnt done much these days. Please help ! WA 7Apr 20, 2013 10:30 pm Hi Elle, most country style kitchens tend to have a profiled door - shaker is really popular. I think Laminex do some profile doors otherwise I think they need to be painted. We have gone for a country style. I will add some of the pics I have collected in my search for the look I want. Goodluck - the first pic is the Style I have copied for our house. http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg560/Charnleys/InspirationKitchen_zpse931a878.jpg http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg560/Charnleys/K10-1.jpg http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg560/Charnleys/imageCA5IBZKC.jpg http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg560/Charnleys/K28.jpg http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg560/Charnleys/K7.jpg Re: Warm country kitchen styles ! Please help ! WA 9Apr 21, 2013 1:38 pm There's a nice white kitchen at Masters in Armadale, sort of shaker style with a stone benchtop you might want to look at. We'd have loved it but ended up going with the one included since we'd get so little back as a credit. Maybe in another 10 years when we renovate I suppose. Re: Warm country kitchen styles ! Without the profile its a different style. Please help ! WA 11Apr 22, 2013 6:59 pm I agree regarding Laminex's limited range as I found the same myself. I too found Tesrol and Polytec to have a wider range of "shaker" style doors and ended up going with Polytec as my kitchen company did not use Tesrol. Very happy with the doors we chose. Re: Warm country kitchen styles ! Please help ! WA 13Apr 23, 2013 12:41 am yep you need profile doors. I'd go white or off white with a warm bench colour. Please help ! WA 16Apr 23, 2013 10:38 pm Hi Elle You can ask however project builders will generally stick with their own suppliers. Redink should be able to supply you the type of Kitchen you want. Your other option is to supply the Kitchen yourself and get them to credit you. Not the most cost effective option but if it gets you what you want. Goodluck Re: Warm country kitchen styles ! Please help ! WA 17Apr 25, 2013 12:49 am Hahaha waterwheel you can come play with our kitchen anytime if you want to pay for it it's actually not too badly priced considering how big our kitchen is. We have changed the pantry though because I didn't like the pull put door, it was too heavy and that's before food in it!!! Re: Warm country kitchen styles ! Please help ! WA 18Apr 25, 2013 4:52 pm I think all the pictures above need more to be classed as a country kitchen. Sure they have panel doors but that doesnt make a country kitchen. They all look awesome and I have a similar kitchen but they all look very modern rather than country to me. Please help ! WA 19Apr 25, 2013 7:18 pm Country kitchen to me invokes images of a large kitchen (oodles of benchspace... a good size room lined with cupboard/bench, a big U shape... etc.), timber benchtops or timber doors, knobs, not handles, and room to eat, not just cook. So either the old kitchen table in the middle, or an island with seating space. But I'd envision the 'kitchen space' as wrapping around the island, not the island being the border of it as we see with modern kitchens. And warm colour, not predominantly white. I wouldn't want all those elements, although I like some of them. Perhaps try to narrow down what elements you are liking in the 'country kitchen' style, and which are contributing to the overall look that you like. It's style - it's personal. Land settled May '14. Please help ! WA 20Oct 21, 2016 8:44 pm Hii Elle, If you feel your kitchen is a little more traditional or even just warm instead of feeling cold and modern than you can visit Kitchen Designers Armadale .. It is a good site for kitchen remodeling and renovation.... I was being kind to the builder. With the amount charged for the upgrade the builder is probably charging closer to 100% margin. There are a few variables as I… 5 14299 You never have a fridge against wall as you’ve drawn. The doors can’t open past 90 degrees and it’s difficult and maybe impossible to remove drawers 2 15585 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7140 |
