Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 13, 2013 11:13 pm http://www.reece.com.au/m/bathrooms/products/9500870 Just wondering who has one of these taps? Does scum build up on the coil? Is it difficult to keep clean? Would you get it again? Thanks Re: Pull Out Sink Mixers - thoughts? 2Apr 14, 2013 8:41 am I don't have one, but they are in one of the promotions with PD- I have upgraded to a different style though as I found they looked like a bit of an eyesore. We bought ours off ebay. First time we have had one, but now we do - we wonder how we ever did without it. So handy cleaning and rinsing big items, the item doesn't have to be in the actual sink, you can pull the hose out to it. Only yesterday I was scrubbing out an esky sitting on top of the sink's side drain board- so handy. Also love that you can swap it from a spray to a fine central jet - great when cleaning out or filling bottles etc with narrow necks. Don't have any dramas with cleaning it so far, been in the house since September. Doesn't really get soap scum on the hose at all. When we use it we pull it out holding the end, then retract it when we are finished. So the hose never really gets submersed in any soapy water, it pretty much stays clean and dry. Here's our tap in our kitchen... It looked more like an ordinary kitchen mixer except the head pulled out on one of those long flexible hoses. Most awesome invention ever. Having to live in a rental while our house gets built and not have one really hits home about how good it was. We are having one put in our new kitchen - very similar to the old one. Being able to swap from an ordinary water flow to a spray, being able to pull it out to rinse vegetables in a spray... Fantastic. The hose never got grubby and it was used non stop for 10 years. The one we are putting in looks much like the old one: http://www.brewers.com.au/product.php?id=253 Completed a knock down and rebuild in northern Melbourne. Handover completed 27/09/2013 and now moved in. Re: Pull Out Sink Mixers - thoughts? 6Apr 14, 2013 9:06 pm We had one in this house and replaced it with a normal tap. I found the builder didn't put it in properly and it started to wobble and leak around the base, even from the start it never seemed really secure but as time went on (2 years) it got worse and worse. When I had a plumber look at it he said he had seen many issues with them as they are not designed for all sink types and quite often it is impossible to have them secured properly. I had the one with the coils. The coils seem clean all of the time, just wiped them down as I wiped down the sink. Re: Pull Out Sink Mixers - thoughts? 7Apr 14, 2013 10:20 pm We were looking at those but decided to go with the pull out vegie spray mixer tap instead like this one http://www.google.com.au/search?q=vegie ... iAemxIGIAg Build start April 2013 - Handover End July 2013. Very helpful! delatite13 - can you tell me which ebay seller you used? Your kitchen is gorgeous by the way Re: Pull Out Sink Mixers - thoughts? 9Apr 15, 2013 3:39 pm Hi gonecountry ... thanks Just had a look on ebay for you - found the seller we used back in Feb 2012 - they don't have that particular one now, just these two styles, the seller was located in Sydney. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Luxury-Kitchen-Sink-Faucet-Tap-Flexible-Spray-Solid-Brass-Mixer-/170887684917?pt=AU_Kitchen_Units_Sets&hash=item27c9b32335 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Flexible-Kitchen-Mixer-Tap-Handheld-Shower-Pull-out-Solid-Brass-/170856452782?pt=AU_Building_Materials&hash=item27c7d692ae Also found this one seller - with a tap very similar to ours - another Sydney seller - they had quite a few styles on there http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Swivel-Spout-Pull-out-Kitchen-Mixer-Tap-Single-Handle-/130888144301?pt=AU_Building_Materials&hash=item1e798a95ad Hope this helps. I have a Methven pullout and spray tap which gives 15 years warranty on parts and labour. To me that is a sign of quality. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Luxury-K ... 27c9b32335 I first wanted a 'duck neck' pullout tap but when we tried them out they didn't reach as far as the Methven and looked to big for my kitchen. I ordered mine through Bunnigs which was a lot cheaper than Reece or Tradelink 2.5 years ago. Re: Pull Out Sink Mixers - thoughts? 18Jun 20, 2013 6:20 pm We had one with a coil up until last month. It was fine and easy to clean. The only reason we changed it was whilst we were overseas we found this one which is touchless to operate. Brilliant for washing hands after cutting raw meat! Still has the pull down as well - my sink is over a metre wide so I need the pull down to be able to clean out all three bowls. This might entail cutting a section out of a shelf to give the required hanging room, or moving your shelf down to a useless level. But it's worth it as they're very handy. If anyone is interested in the mechanics of how the drawing system works, there's a weight which you clamp on the hose which draws the hose back in via gravity. It's not a rip-your-arms off pull, just an easy draw back in. Hence the need for the room for the hose to hang. I'm not a fan of those ones with the big spring (swing out).
