Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 12, 2013 6:10 pm http://www.ikeametod.se/se/ the new system will replace FAKTUM, the cabinets will be 800mm high, 4 drawers each 200mm. The pages are in Swedish but can be translated with google. Re: IKEA's new kitchen system starts in Sweden on 3. June 2Mar 12, 2013 6:40 pm Wow 800mm high cabinets?? Thats high. If you wanted a 900mm bench height with a 40mm top your kicks would only be 60mm high. Given standard kicks are 130-150mm I think it would look terriable. Even at 920mm high the kicks would still only be 80mm! June 3Mar 12, 2013 7:07 pm http://www.ikeametod.se/se/ it is a box system where you can have all sizes in 20cm intervals as far as I know. You could have 600mm high, you could have 2x100mm drawers in a 200mm "box". you will be able to choose coloured interiors. From what i gather, the cabinet widths are 20, 40, 60, 80, 100cm. I'm not an IKEA employee, the infos I have are from IKEA fans in EU. But it is confirmed that it starts. From what I guess it starts in the USA in April 2014. Over there they have already a sale going, 20% off. It seems the system starts already in April in Norway and Denmark. here another picture http://www.ikeametod.se/wp-content/uplo ... 00x800.jpg It seems that IKEA faktum will end in Sweden on 30/09/2013 another information says that IKEA had signed a contract with an Italian company to produce 5 mill drawers a year from early 2013. Re: IKEA's new kitchen system starts in Sweden on 3. June 4Mar 12, 2013 10:45 pm Thanks very much Evelin for the news. That's a big change for Ikea kitchens, they haven't really changed their kitchen cabinet size for many many years, even before the Faktum-era (called System 210 in the 80's & 90's, System 210 means the height of their tall cabinet 210cm) their standard cabinet has always been 70cm high. Many European kitchens now have long base cupboard doors with low kickboards, I know with Leicht kitchens you can choose 79cm base cabinets with 10cm kickboards. And this Allmilmo kitchen below also has low kickboards. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Personally I prefer the standard kickboard height of around 15-16cm, but I might change my mind when I see more kitchens with low kickboards, who knows? Evelin another information says that IKEA had signed a contract with an Italian company to produce 5 mill drawers a year from early 2013. So they're not using Blum drawers any more? Hope the quality will be the same if not better. Well I think I should keep my eye on the current Faktum range, they might reduce their price sooner or later (time to renovate my garage?) Re: IKEA's new kitchen system starts in Sweden on 3. June 5Mar 12, 2013 11:10 pm @Jaeger, are you dealing in Leicht Küchen? We have no Leicht in Perth, we have Nobilia and RWK/Kuhlmann. Most probably I'll get a kitchen from the latter one. Leicht would be nice(r). I think IKEA isn't using Blum for a while. I think they are made in Malaysia under another name. Re: IKEA's new kitchen system starts in Sweden on 3. June 6Mar 12, 2013 11:19 pm Just found more info on the new Ikea kitchen system, it translates as: "A new simple mounting technique where the cabinets are set up on a wall-mounted rails allows one person can do the installation without help." Finally! They've been doing that for quite a while with their American kitchen range AKURUM, been wondering why they wouldn't do the same thing for FAKTUM range. No, I have no dealing with Leicht kitchens, I just happened to have a Leicht catalogue with me. Not many German kitchen companies in Australia these days, only the strong ones survive, probably the cost and time of transportation are too difficult. Even Miele tried to import kitchens into Australia back in the late 80's/early 90's but it was too hard for them because when things went wrong you'd have to wait for ages to get things shipped over. So Ikea don't use Blum drawers anymore? I bought some hinges last week and they are still made in Austria and stamped "blum". The last time I bought some drawers (about a year ago) they were still made in Austria. They might have changed now, but I know they used to use Blum metal drawer fronts (the one you use behind cupboard doors) which are power coated steel and they are much stronger than the thin aluminium ones they use now. When I try to pull it out the whole thing bends, not sure if it can last 25 years! Re: IKEA's new kitchen system starts in Sweden on 3. The other thing with IKEA is when you change your mind, you can return whatever you have bought. There are actually quite a number of German kitchens around but it is not easy to find them unless you are German and know what to look for. For instance, at the moment Poggenpohl has a worldwide sale because they change their drawer system. In Australia are 3 stores that sell Poggenpohl, which is the top of the range of German kitchens. I have now several quotes from kitchen studios here in Perth which vary greatly. But it usually comes down to different product qualities. I had one lower quote where the cabinet doors (16mm) are thinner than IKEA doors (19mm). The edging of the doors are different. One German company has an aluminium strip at the front of each shelve as standard. It is really about how much one wants to spent. I want to have the Blum Intivo drawers with the glass panels at the side, looks elegant. I'm also after a particular sink. Within in a day, I had 3 quotes, $1299, $999 and $899, without asking for a discount, the first 2 prices where the same company. Re: IKEA's new kitchen system starts in Sweden on 3. I remember back in the 90's they used to bring in their appliances like those big stainless steel rangehoods and cooktops set in stainless steel blocks and they were very impressive. Ikea are pretty good value for money in that price range, and Germany love Ikea as they're the biggest market for Ikea followed by USA. Re: IKEA's new kitchen system starts in Sweden on 3.
