Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 16, 2013 8:14 am Hi there, been a reader for quite a while, first time poster, generally i just gather as much info from all you lot and go from there, but as of right now i am stumped. Hopefully the title isnt too misleading, im just doing a reno to my kitchen at the moment, changing the benchtop and cupboard doors, and im tossing up whether to include a waterfall or not, given that my floor tiles are terracotta coloured tiles. I guess im worried that it will try to look to modern but it wont work because the tiles just make everything seem so old Heres some pictures anyhoo. http://imageshack.us/a/img94/5823/20130202082142.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img854/1448/20130215162334.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img805/1058/20130215162342.jpg So in the first picture, i plan to knock down that upstand and extend the benchtop past the wall by 300mm for a breakfast bar. Then underneath Along that wall, im not sure what style or colour but it is going to be some sort of laminate. Also keep in mind theres no more face brick in my house its all getting plastered. So in picture 3 that is where i would have my waterfall if having one at all. The benchtop will be granite and will more than likely be a lighter colour, with pretty close to white painted doors with a bit of pattern or high gloss melamine doors. Any help any one can give will be most appreciated, i just find every decision to make so damn hard because of these stupid tiles And i dont have a great brain for design =/ Thanks in advance Re: To do a Waterfall Bench with Terracota Tiles. 2Feb 19, 2013 9:09 pm Ok, I think it would be fine. Granites are really natural looking as is terracotta. If you were thinking Caesarstone, as in Nougat or Osprey type patterns I would say no. We had similar tiles in our last home with black and green granite and it looked great. Re: To do a Waterfall Bench with Terracota Tiles. 4Feb 20, 2013 10:47 pm Thanks guys, im getting a very reasonable quote for the waterfall (family friend doing it) so price isnt an issue just want to make sure it works! I dont have a picture nor can i find one similar, but its basically a creamy sort of coloured granite, with minimal terracotta coloured specks through it with a earthy brown grain that runs through it in random spots.. yeah that sort of makes sense. I took one of my spare terracotta tiles with me and it seemed to match up pretty well. I just need a little bit more convincing to do the waterfall if any one out there can seal the deal and convince me Re: To do a Waterfall Bench with Terracota Tiles. 5Feb 21, 2013 5:20 am I think the colour you mention sounds perfect. How can it not look good! I know what you mean though, I googled and googled and could not find a pic with a waterfall on tc tiles. But I would still do it. Re: To do a Waterfall Bench with Terracota Tiles. 6Feb 21, 2013 10:30 pm Ok im officially convinced, waterfall is happening Now maybe i can pick your brain maybe one more time, another dilemma im facing. My cupboard doors are going to be lacquered doors with a pattern, and they will be some form of white. In pictures 1 and 2, on those brick walls im not going to render it i want to have a laminate, mainly on the breakfast bar side so people that kick it while sitting there wont leave scuff marks on a painted wall. Basically should i be matching this laminate with the colour of the doors or going a bit more bold and crazy and something different? im really bad at the design side of things sorry and its hard to find examples to gain inspiration from =/ Thanks again! Re: To do a Waterfall Bench with Terracota Tiles. 7Feb 22, 2013 8:57 am Feel free to join in everyone Ok, because of the terracotta tiles I personally would not do crazy I would do simple and do the same colour as the doors. What type of pattern on the cupboards are you doing? just curious. Re: To do a Waterfall Bench with Terracota Tiles. 8Feb 22, 2013 11:19 pm http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q ... B390%3B480 Wow a really long link but its the most similar pattern i can find on google images.. ignore the description and where the photo came from, but basically that pattern... Was going to go for just a slightly off white colour, and then for the two walls im considering to laminate, having that exact same pattern in little sort of door sized panels.. so they look like doors without handles! (im sure theres a way better way of explaining that) Thoughts on the pattern? http://www.zuccari.com.au/granite_2.html ..... Thats the link to the colour of the granite, the top row, fourth slab from the left, 'shifalfi 4'.... sadly i cant choose between any of the colours on that website, just this and lucifer black (because they are leftovers from a job so cheaper), so yeah Thanks again! Hi - thanks for your reply. Yes I think 'Ill go for whitish with very speckly bits rather than pure white something like this. PS was actually 2008 I built the… 2 11694 Building Standards; Getting It Right! These can be easily filled and repaired and it doesn't cost them much to do. I see if they can adjust the hinges. 4 3796 |
