Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 14, 2013 11:26 am Hi Everyone, I am currently trying to plan out our kitchen in our 1950's weatherboard reno and I only have a small space to work with. 2700mm x 2700mm It is a square area, and I could either do a u shaped kitchen but the fridge would be in an awkward spot or I could do an L shaped with a small island. My question is if I was to go with the island bench option the size would be about 1000mm x 1200mm is this too small? Does anyone have an island of this size and is it functional? There would be no sink or anything in it, just purely bench space and cabinets with overhang. But in my experience an island unit in a small kitchen can actually cost you space!
