Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 13, 2013 8:03 am Hello, I know this has probably been covered but my search came up blank.. I'm about to sign off my plans but have noticed that the pot drawers I had added to the kitchen are only 400mm deep instead of the full 600mm depth of the bench top. Is this normal? Seems kinda small to me.. The cutlery drawers are also only 400mm but that seems ok for them. Any advice much appreciated! Re: Pot drawers - bench depth 2Feb 13, 2013 12:56 pm Not sure of the depth of mine but two of the cutlery inserts are 520mm deep so add a bit extra for total drawer depth. There is a gas fitting for the stove behind the drawer to its right so the drawer is a bit shorter as the insert is only 470mm deep. Would definitely ask questions before you sign. Regards, Grumbles Re: Pot drawers - bench depth 3Feb 13, 2013 4:35 pm Most kitchen drawers are 500mm deep. 400mm is a bit shallow. Are they in an island unit or have a breakfast bar behind them?? Are you using a spec builder? Quite disappointed if that's the deepest they can be for what they cost... The depth isn't actually noted on the plans it's just me estimating from the picture with a ruler which should be close. Make a phone call and ask how deep the drawers are. Everything else is just guessing. Once the kitchen was in I tentatively opened a couple of them and sure enough they are deeper than the cutlery bank...However they are still not 500mm...On the exterior I guess they might be, but i bought some of the inserts from Ikea which are about 510 and they are too small so i will have to cut some off and hope they fit... Amazing isn't it the things that crop up that you don't really give a second thought to, you ask for pot drawers and assume they will be like any other pot drawer you have seen...pffft draughtsmen do this for giggles I reckon! Yes thats right, a drawer depth is taken externally. You then need to deduct the front and back to give the internal depth. 500mm drawer with standard runners gives 467mm internal 500mm drawer with softclose runners gives 484mm internal Cutting Edge Kitchens and Cabinet Making http://cuttingedgekitchens.net.au http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cutting-Edge-Kitchens/290484196676 Mobile : 0419 430 575 PH: 9452 4772 Fax :9452 4772 cuttingedgekitchens@outlook.com Hello I'm remodeling my kitchen and evaluating ideas.
