Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: Freestanding oven 7Feb 13, 2013 4:17 pm grumblebum54 I gather you will be using your island bench for preparation, it is a long way from the left end to the pantry. Yeah. Bit of a hike. The break/gap between the oven and the sink allows access to the fridge. I am playing with a redesign that gets rid of the two freestanding (oven and sink) by moving them against the wall (either side of the fridge). With a 4mx4m pantry and a 6m island I don't think I'll need the cupboards either side of the fridge (as per my current plan). This version has the sink and over positions swapped, so that the sink is closer to the pantry. I think there will be a lot of traffic between island and pantry, and I'd rather people walking past the sink than the stove top. grumblebum54 I am not a fan of stoves off the walls mainly because of the rangehoods that have to go above them. I saw one recently that went all the way up to a raked ceiling and it reminded me of a factory. Funny enough, I see the rangehoods as a feature. If you get a nice one. grumblebum54 But this is all personal choice and if you are set on having your stove like this spend many hours on google and you should find something you like. I googled a bit, didn't find much. In fact, the first pic (of a stove/oven island) that I found was a feng shui website saying it was a no-no! That doesn't bother me, but I might not mention it to the missus... thanks all Bathroom renovation will likely include a back-to-corner bath and we’re considering a freestanding tap with hand-held shower such as the picture included.
