Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 27, 2013 2:44 pm Hi folks. I plan to have a plywood kitchen and other joinery in a living space, doors only, not benchtops (maybe Kauri or Fijiian Cedar?). I have been told that marine ply is not necessary and that furniture grade should be fine. But what about the letters describing the smoothness of each face? I read someone was happy using BB...? Ultimately, I want the timber to look like timber (and feel like timber?) I would rather not have a thick glossy coating like two pack poly and am thinking of using an oil. However, I have concerns about hygeine and staining. Has anyone used Osmo Oil or Hardwax oil?Any other suggestions? Thanks! Love this forum! Re: Plywood kitchen and other joinery 2Jan 27, 2013 4:17 pm I am not a big fan of plywood. It doesnt look anything like timber. Why is it that people think that 2 pac is a thick glossy coating?? Its actually available in matt, satin, semi gloss and full gloss. I am not a fan of oiling timber or plywood in a kitchen. You need to do it often to stop staining and even then it can stain.
