Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 20, 2013 6:17 pm Is anyone aware of an alternative to a typical laminate which can be used to create solid/strong coloured benchtops? Something higher quality and possibly more durable would be great. If it is suitable for a splashback behind a gas cooktop, even better. Hope you can come up with some ideas- I'm designing a Scandi meets 70's plywood kitchen with green (yes, green!) benchtops. Thanks!!! Re: Alternatives to Laminate (Laminex) 5Jan 21, 2013 3:24 pm There are a few reconstituted stones in green but you have to search for them. My laundry has c'stone Duckweed but unfortunately it is a discontinued colour. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Alternatives to Laminate (Laminex) 6Jan 23, 2013 9:48 am IT all depends on weather you would like a pattern through the bench. if it is plain green, a marblo may be a good option as they can match any colour from the Dulux Colour chart and put swirls and grains etc. if you are after a High Quality laminate, you will want a High Pressure Laminate, not low pressure or Melamine as they don't cope with wear at all. As far as green Laminates go, you could be surprised as to how many different greens are available not to mention the greens with patterns through them. Check this link out for a range of green Laminate from just a single company. http://www.surfacesquared.com.au/produc ... urs?page=1 Back to Marblo - Marblo along with being used as a benchtop, can also be used as the splashback without the use of Glass in front of it. so you can exactly match your splash back to your bench if you would like or contrast it with the same colour but with a frosted finish as opposed to a High Gloss finish. The range of products available on the market today is massive! Hope this helps. Re: Alternatives to Laminate (Laminex) 7Jan 24, 2013 9:58 pm You people are great! Thanks for your help. I'll look now. I do mean literally a solid green colour like Laminex "Juicy".... but eco green is preferable too. Thanks Treeseachanger, Kyton, Surface Squared and CuttingEdgeKitchens!
